The Celebrity Death Pool 2011

Please repost all 13 as one list, but please leave off the parenthetical comments.

Okay, I will repost, but I broke one of your rules about parenthetical comments?

Gotta go shopping but will get right on it when I return.

Ah, but some players 2011 lists gives you a clue towards their 2012 list.

Yes. But then, I’m good through 2014. Let’s hope Betty White can make it until then.

You can include as many comments as you like, but should also post a clean list. Please look at previous entries for examples. You’re also allowed up to 3 alternates in case one of your 13 kicks it before 00:00:01 1/1/11

To save us all some hassle, here is Quasi’s list in correct format:

Quasimodem’s 2011 Death Pool picks

Eli Wallach
Clint Eastwood
Maggie Smith
Judi Dench
Sean Connery
Betty White
Jimmy Carter
Keith Richards
Barbara Bush
Michael Vick
Bill Wyman
Jerry Lee Lewis
Mikhail Gorbachev

Thank you.

Here you go:

Wilford Brimley
Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi
Kim Jong-Un
John Demjanjuk
Randy QUaid
Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Diego Maradona
Kathy Bates
Ken Griffey Sr.
Patrick Swayze
Billy Graham
James Best (Roscoe Coltrane of Dukes of Hazzard)
Ellen johnson Sirleaf

That jackass. I had him in 2009 when I thought he would be a hot pick, and also in 2010 when he was a semi-bandwagon pick, and now screw him! Screw him right in the ear!

Of course, if I take him off my list this year, that will almost guarantee that this will be the year he actually scores. So to speak. Hmph.

Unlike Voltaire, I don’t think Swayze can be picked after he has shuffled off this mortal coil.

Hmmm, did he actually die? (Checks) So he did . . .

Let’s replace him with FW De Klerk.

So that makes the list:

Wilford Brimley
Abdelbaset Ali Mohmed Al Megrahi
Kim Jong-Un
John Demjanjuk
Randy Quaid
Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Diego Maradona
Kathy Bates
Ken Griffey Sr.
FW DeKlerk
Billy Graham
James Best (Roscoe Coltrane of Dukes of Hazzard)
Ellen johnson Sirleaf

So I made the list according to your instructions, I repeated it and left out the parentheses, but left my comments because you stated in your rules that it was okay to be entertaining, and it’s STILL not right, and I’m causing you “hassle”?

Jesus, I must be more stupid than I thought.

Quasi, it’s not the literal parentheses, it’s any kind of parenthetical remark – he needs a version of the list that is names and nothing else.

a lot of people post the list twice - once, with all sorts of comments and/or snarks, and then again, unadorned, so that amarone can copy and paste it easily. He needs to do this to keep score, and to keep track of those who kick off.

Didn’t mean anything by “hassle”; sorry to have caused offense.

Mostly cut and paste from 2010 list - does “Evil” count as a theme?

A list of evilness (IMO):

Omar al-Bashir - President of Sudan
Kim Jong-Il - Supreme Leader of N.Korea
Sayyid Ali Khamenei - Supreme Leader of Iran
Hu Jintao - Paramount Leader People’s Republic of China
King Abdullah - King Saudi Arabia
Than Shwe - head of state of Myanmar (Burma)
Robert Mugabe - President Zimbabwe
Islam Karimov - President of Uzbekistan
Muammar al-Qaddafi - leader of Libya
Bashar al-Assad - President Syrian Arab Republic
Hugo Chavez - President Venezuela
Osama bin Laden
Isayas Afewerki - leader Eritrea

Alternates:
Teodoro Obiang Nguema - leader Equatorial Guinea
Dick Cheney
Plain List:
Omar al-Bashir
Kim Jong-Il
Sayyid Ali Khamenei
Hu Jintao
King Abdullah
Than Shwe
Robert Mugabe
Islam Karimov
Muammar al-Qaddafi
Bashar al-Assad
Hugo Chavez
Osama bin Laden
Isayas Afewerki

Alternates:
Teodoro Obiang Nguema
Dick Cheney

Ben Roethlisberger
Betty Ford
Lindsay Lohan
Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas
Joe Paterno
Bobby Bowden
Fidel Castro
Hugo Chavez
Mikhail Gorbachev
Raul H. Castro *former Arizona governor, not the Cuban political figure
Dolph Schayes
Muhammad Ali
Margaret Thatcher

2011 Death Pool

Dick Cheney
Zsa Zsa Gabor
Ariel Sharon
Gabriel Garcia Marquez
Andy Whitfield
Fidel Castro
Michael Douglas
George H. W. Bush
Ursula LeGuin
George Jones
Chuck Berry
Christopher Hitchens
Bruno Sammartino

I played around with several themes and decided on “old and/or sick” as the one I would go with. In the end, I doubt I will have any unique picks.

That’s right - it takes me about 20 seconds to process a plain list. Every line I have to edit adds 10 seconds to that. That may not seem like much, but with about 170 lists, it can add up.

Call it “evil leaders” and yes, I’ll allow it.
