The Celebrity Death Pool 2011

Canadian TV icon/Movie Guru, Elwy Yostdies at age 86.

Other Canadians will likely also have fond memories of watching old movies with our friend Elwy every Saturday Night. *Saturday Night at the Movies *was an institution at our house. A chance to watch a couple of wonderful old movies along with witty and informed discussion about those movies hosted by Elwy. Great memories. We will miss you, Elwy.

Why oh why did I pick the American movie guru icon? Roger lives on and Elwy passes on … I should have shopped Canadian. Sigh.

Amy Winehouse. That’ll be a big score for some people. Going to check whether I had her this year…

I’m shocked. SHOCKED.

Most of all, I’m shocked that I relegated her to my B list two years running.

You can not win this year if you don’t have her. 73 points.

And was she on my list? no. no. no.

Whoohoo! Oh, I mean, I’m very sorry to hear that.

I didn’t have her and I can’t believe I forgot to put her on my list.

While this sad, untimely (because I didn’t have her) death puts you in the lead, I wouldn’t say that I cannot win. I’m only 15 behind, and Critical Mass is just two points further back.

I’ve cycled her on and off my list for the past few years, and sadly this year was “off”. Alas!

Amy was my Hail-Mary pass for the year.

After I found of the latest reports on her slurred voice performances and walkouts out of stage I figure out that she was going down.

I’ll take the 73 points as it is not likely that I will get any for the dictator of the Ivory Coast that decided to let the opposition troops capture him instead of getting the deserved bullet to the head.

Amy becomes the newest member of the 27 Club.

Statistically speaking though, the young trainwrecks are almost always a disappointment, come New Year’s Eve.

Yeah, youth is highly protective against all sorts of self-destructive behavior.

Twenty-seven people had Amy on their lists. In picks she was #10 this year, behind Aretha Franklin, Michael Douglas, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Fidel Castro, Kim Jong Il, Ariel Sharon, Lindsay Lohan, Margaret Thatcher, and Dick Cheney.

I don’t really know who Amy Winehouse was. Nonetheless, various obits keep listing her as a singer. From my limited understanding, I was under the impression she was best known as a drunk.

Thanks (I think) for the link. What a collection. I also note the distinction between heroin overdose and “accidental” heroin overdose. Murdered and shot as well.

Just WOW.

Oh noes! That means Keith Richards isn’t going to live forever!

73 point I kinda almost feel bad for getting.

I will take them off you, if it will make you feel better.

I knew it! Go, Amy! Whoo-hooo!
