A couple more prominent Canucks passed away in the last few days. Darn, we are just too closed mouth about our illnesses, I don’t think anyone had them: [Raylene Rankin](http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/nova-scotia/story/2012/09/30/ns-rankin-dies.html), a member of the internationally acclaimed Celtic-country band The Rankin Family, has died after a long fight with cancer at the age of 52. [Barbara Ann Scott](http://www.cbc.ca/sports/figureskating/story/2012/09/30/sp-barbara-ann-scott.html), ‘Canada’s Sweetheart’, the only Canadian to win an individual gold medal in Olympic figure skating, died Sunday at 84. She was from my hometown and donated all of her memorabillia to Ottawa just last month. I am happy she was able to return home to have her life celebrated while she was able to enjoy it. My kids learned to skate at the Barbara Ann Scott arena. She remained a lovely, giving lady her whole life. She will be missed. ---

Also weird – the fact that **etv** (who added Moon to a previous 18-pointer) is credited with only one “score”, while virginity-loser **smithsb** somehow has two deaths “in hand”. I just learned that [Barry Commoner](http://www.latimes.com/news/obituaries/la-me-barry-commoner-20121002,0,7763209.story) died about a week ago at the age of 95. Commoner, who was the 1980 Citizens Party candidate for President of the United States, is considered one of the leading figures in the environmental movement. ---
