Anyone who buys a car based mainly on it’s looks should have their driving privileges permanently revoked. That being said, it’s not bad looking for a station wagon. That’s right, a **station wagon.** _Crossover vehicle_ my ass. I’d never buy one, but then I’d never buy **ANY** Dodge/Chrysler product. ---

Since I won’t be 40 for another 15 years, I’m qualified to answer this…I think they’re hideous. While looks isn’t my first consideration, all things being otherwise equal between it and another vehicle, I can’t think of many cars I wouldn’t choose over that ugly thing. ---

18 year old here– Those things are hideous!I can’t decide whether it looks more like a pregnant VW Beetle or a baby hearse. However, one of my 17 y.o. friends has loved them since they came out. :eek: ---

I only like the ones with the fake wood paneling because they remind me of the old woody cars. But all other versions look like mini-hearses. ---

I’m 30. They’re interesting, but I’d never get one. The uber-self-consciously retro look screams “baby-boomer-yuppie” to me. They’re slightly sexy, but there’s the corporate-retro stigma in addition to the price-tag stigma, plus the fact that it is, as stated above, a station wagon, avatar of lameness for all the world. ---

I’m 35 and I’d like to drive one into a tree. That car is in the top 5 of my “butt ugly car driven by mid-life crisis male” car. The winner of that list, of course, is the Corvette. ---

I’m just under 40, and I like them. Not because I would want one (not my thing), but because they’re different. I hope they get really popular and that Detroit will put out more different looking cars as a result. American cars have suffered from acute lack of imagination (and quality) for too many years… ---

31 y/o fancier of vintage cars… This thing is as inventive and creative looking as an elephant’s rendition of embroidery! **Kal** so kindly linked the PT to a Hackney… I still insist that the PT looks as if someone dropped a piano on the bonnet (hood), or ran it into a tree. My ‘challenged’ students are more creative than the twunt who designed this monstrosity. ---

Don’t really feel too strongly either way about the looks. I’d take one if it was given to me, but I wouldn’t be giddy about it. The little chrome whatsit on the back looks rather pointless. And combined with that rounded silhouette and the pointless chrome whatsit, it lookes like it was inspired by a 1940’s kitchen appliance. Paint it turquoise and stick a “fridgedair” on the back, it’d be uncanny resemblance. But have you noticed how tiny the rearview window is? Might as well drive around in a van, you’ll have the same visibility. I’d rather have a car with minimal blind spots so I can zip around without worrying that I’m about to take out the guy in the next lane. ---

I think they’re cute. Supposedly they handle like a dumpster and have lots of mechanical problems… so, I probably wouldn’t get one. Still cute, just waiting till they don’t break as much. I’m 21, if you need to know. ---

I’m 27. I think the PT Cruiser mings. I can see how it’s supposed to be a kind of 30s-40s retro pastiche, but I think it’s rather badly done. ---

My BIL has one, he’s in his early 40’s and his model is black with some really subtle purple flames flowing back from the hood and fenders. HIs stereo system is amazing and the envy of many 20 year olds who drive their “ricers”. He loves it. The PT Cruiser is not an SUV, it’s a Neon on steroids. I hear that they will be coming out with a turbo charged version in the near future and perhaps it’s already available. When I have my mid life crisis (and it’s coming soon) I won’t be running out to get a PT Cruiser, I’m going to buy a Suburban. A vehicle for the most manly and virile of men (and a few women). I’ll be able to carry all the kids, their friends and their friend’s friends, and still have room to carry a PTC in the back as a spare. ---
