So, what do you think of Intervention on A&E?

A&E’s Intervention is a documentary series that handles some of these kinds of things. Perhaps you’d prefer that show? It’s mostly about people’s addictions and the efforts of their families (with the help of a counselor) to get them into treatment.
To turn this question around on you, why should we demand more realistic television? I can tell the difference between fantasy and reality, and so can almost everybody. Sometimes we want to be entertained by fiction. Why does the fiction have to be like reality? Straight-up reality does not always make good drama.
Bad writing is bad writing, it doesn’t matter if it is realistic or not. I haven’t seen The Cleaner because I thought it looked stupid, and having read your description it appears to be even stupider than I thought. It doesn’t sound offensive, but words it sounds misguided and wildly inaccurate.
You can look this up for yourself, of course. It’s not like a group of three people are writing and producing all the TV shows.
Says who? I share your objection to dumbing things down, but where do you come up with the idea that all people need to do is put real-life stuff on TV “with hotter people?” There is reality television out there. There’s fiction. Where’s the demand for reality re-cast with more attractive actors? What demand is there for it?
Failing that, you could always toggle the Caps Lock on and off.
That’s for wusses. Real men know that Alt-65 = A, Alt-66 = B, etc.
I haven’t had any desire to see The Cleaner, but I have a strong desire to see freep5637’s keyboard.
Sorry, the hamster took out the webcam.
