Does anyone remember the scene where Peter Graves, the pilot, say to the little boy visiting the cockpit, “Tommy, have you ever seen a grown man naked?” I’m amazed they could get away with that even 30 years ago. ---

When I watched it new, it was creepy. Squirmy even. But still funny. I think it was acceptable because the understanding of how pervasive molesters are wasn’t understood. To my 1977 mind, child molesters were rare creeps, obvious, like Uncle Ernie. They were easy to avoid, because of that. How little we knew then! ---

To be fair, the whole movie is ethnic and gender stereotyping. Starting with the two jiveass dudes, and continuing with the “Famous Jewish Sports Legends” pamphlet, the Japanese dude who commits seppuku, the Indian dude who (accidentally) immolates himself, the entire phalanx of religious types in the lobby, Johnny’s flaming, the pedophile priest, the horny chick, Ovure’s wife having an affair with a horse, and ends with Elaine giving oral sex to Otto. But I love the movie! I ain’t no SJW, but Code of Honor is still a racist episode of TNG. ---
