I truly enjoy reading **Drastic** , **Barbarian** , and **Collounsbury**. Between the three, their posting styles are very different, but all three display a great sense of humor (and it’s a pleasure watching **Collounsbury** verbally reduce someone to hunks of burning rubble) and intelligence. **celestina** is an total sweetheart. 🙂 **Scylla** , although I may not agree with you a hundred percent of the time, I respect your well-thought-out posts and your ability to defend your viewpoint intelligently. Plus, the story about your chicken-loving goat made me laugh uncontrollably for about a half hour – I have to hand it to you for that. **Sue Dunhym** (at least from her pic on the People Pages) is just absolutely beautiful. ---

I’m enamored with **Arden Ranger,** because when I asked a question in a thread she emailed me the answer, then explained to me that because of what I asked, that threads like that are usually closed. I bragged about how it hasn’t been closed yet, it was closed an hour later. [damn newbies!] I’m indebted to **pkbites** , because he (or she?) was the first one to quote me in a reply. And I’m glad I met **Spirtus Mundi** , **Iampunha** , and the others in the Fantasy football league I’m in, because they’re gonna get their butts kicked by an almost newbie. ---

Gotta add something for **racinchikki** here. Anybody who likes Hudson Hornets is OK in my book. Anybody who likes Hudson Hornets and is female is even better. All that and good looks too? It’s almost too good to be true. **Gunslinger** , I’m jealous. And **Ellen** , the same goes for anybody who likes Thunderbirds and “Defending Your Life.” If you ever want to have an Albert Brooks film festival, call me. 🙂 I also have to give a shout out to **Sophie** while I’m at it. Wow. Where to begin. I’m gonna have to be all rebellious n’stuff and say a number of people. **Zoggie** , of course, for the kick-ass AIM chats and all-around Zogginess. **Scotticher** , one of the nicest, kindest, most compassionate and just plain coolest people in the world. **Lady Juliet** , for being immensly intelligent and nice and kind and stuff. The fact that she’s stalking me doesn’t hurt none, neither. 😉 Last but nowhere near least is **struuter** , who’s been around a bit lately but not nearly enough. You’re one of the most fun people I have ever interacted with on these boards, and a true friend. 🙂 And everybody else. Yeah, you. And…you. No, not you. Okay…maybe. Dopers are a huge, diverse group of frothing individualists; some will NEVER be simpatico but that doesn’t negate voices or viewpoints. At some point it’s necessary to agree to disagree and _move on_. Slashing away at old grudges draws blood from combatants but in a communities–even large, outspoken ones–onlookers bleed as well. When that toll becomes too high, you’re presence becomes dispensable. Argue it clean–on points–provide cites, and defend your viewpoint without expecting to convert others. Show the respect for others that you demand for yourself or leave. TVeblen ---

Back on track… I just want to use this thread to thank all the New York Dopers for their friendliness this summer, especially **Billdo** , **OxyMoron** , **SuaSponte** , **TruePisces** , and **Biggirl** and **Houseman** –and ESPECIALLY **Pucette** , **Vix** , and **Maeglin**. You last three showed me tremendous hospitality and warmth, and I’m proud to count each of you among my closest friends. **Pucette** , I’ve got pictures to give you next time I’m up. **Vix** , you too. And **Maeglin** , I’d like to take this opportunity to tell you that _I’ve_ never been to an opera, either. 🙂 Great idea for a thread. One more thing: **Kimstu** and **xenophon** rock hard. Drop me an e-mail, guys; I don’t know if the ones I have for you are still current. ---
