Thirdly, you’re claiming that this never came to the attention of the moderators. That’s not true. Witness John Corrado’s comment in “Bricker: Got A Second”.
Fourthly, I can’t tell whether you really understood what was going on in the thread Bricker linked to. Bricker was making a spirited defence of one of his fellow Pubbies (not a poster at SDMB), and objected to me calling the guy a racist, even though the guy had actually been convicted on charges of racial harrassment. Here’s the post that kicked it off:

You are still making this claim, despite the fact that you were shown evidence that the guy convicted on charges of racial harrassment WAS NOT THE SAME GUY. The shared the same first and last name, but it’s a common name and they attended different schools. In addition, their names were not exactly the same: one was Mark O’Donnell Jr. and the other was simply Mark O’Donnell.
When this was brought to your attention, you simply replied, “As far as I can tell, it’s the same guy.”
That hardly addresses the evidence you were shown. “As far as you can tell” means what? If they are the same person, why do the two attend different schools? Why is one a “Jr.” and the other not?
What “as far as I can tell” means is you simply ignored the fact that you were wrong, and shot further insults my way so that your error would be ignored.
Yes, I’ve brought this insult up before, in other threads. And I likely will again. It was hurtful - very hurtful. And it was hateful, to boot. And yet despite repeated references to it, this is - to my recollection - the first time a mod has every agreed it was hate speech.
Nor have you, in any of the other threads in which this has been mentioned, ever once shown the slightest regret for using my race and heritage to insult me. Not once have you ever so much as indicated that maybe that wasn’t a good thing to do.
In real life, I seldom get comments along racial or heritage lines. I’m fair skinned and have no accent. But it’s happened in situations where my name is revealed before I am. Frankly, it’s odious then too… just, thankfully, rare.
In a thread devoted to advice to the moderators, I believe this example is a worthwhile one.

One of the Mark O’Donnells got kicked out of the school he was attending, because of the racial harrassment conviction. The other Mark O’Donell suddenly and subsequently enrolled at another school. Different guys. Sure.

When the event happened, I called the number above and spoke to Sgt. Higgins of the Durango Police Department, after being referred to him by the officer that answered the phone. Sgt. Higgins told me then that the complainant in his case was NOT the same Mark O’Donnell with a conviction for racist threats.
THAT is my evidence.

I thought conservatives were people who prefer problems be solved by a free market, and not have a solution imposed by a nanny government.
In the case of the SDMB, we have a “free market” where ideas compete, why do you need the government, i.e. the mods, to fix problems for you?
This isn’t a truly free market. In a free market, any post could be met with any response (spamming, trolling, insults regardless of forum, etc.). That is not the case here. There are already plenty of rules regarding what can and cannot be done.
