There is an Indian cricketer called [Napoleon Einstein](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napoleon_Einstein). I defy anyone to top that. Even those names that Homer Simpson made up in the Max Power episode weren’t as cool as Napoleon Einstein. ---

I remember watching a US college basketball game with a player called either SirLancelot something or SirValiant something. Dick Spring was an Irish rugby player who later became a politician. Always thought the US football player Dick Butkus had a memorable name. ---

If you knew Portuguese, you’d get a kick out of a retired african football player called Mamadu Bobo, now an ambassador to the sport. Something like Suckon Blowjob would be a fair translation. ---

Coco Crisp remains my favorite, although I’m not sure “cool” is the right adjective to use in that regard. I like Rocco Baldelli, although that sounds more like a boxer’s name. ---

Tell the truth- if you saw a movie about an all-American, heroic athlete named “LANCE ARMSTRONG,” wouldn’t that strike you as a ridiculous, phony name? Just a little too perfect-sounding to be plausible for such a character? ---

My favorite was always Jeff Beukeboom of the N.Y. rangers. He was a big defenseman, quite good at putting big hits on oppsing players. ---

I love listening to John Madden try to pronounce names like Chris Fuamatu Ma’afala. There isn’t anything funny about his name, I just really enjoy listening to announcers stumble over Samoan and African names. ---
