Watched ‘The core’ recently and i had to agree with most reviewers that it was simply so preposterous, cliched and corny that of course i enjoyed it! Infact, when drawn up against its’ cousin ‘Armageddon’, it wins hands down the three things i mentioned earlier-overall preposterousness(sp?), cliched beyond belief and corny.
So what do you guys think? Which of the two was worse?

_Armageddon_ is the more realistic story (Christ, did I just write that?), seeing as how it’s perfectly possible for an asteroid to come hurtling at Earth.

Actually, I believe _Armageddon_ would have been a fine movie if they had just placed it thirty years in the future.

I think both films were trumped by **Deep Impact,** the only disaster movie where you end up rooting for the disaster.

The Bad Astonomer on the [Core](http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/movies/thecore_review.html) and [Armageddon](http://www.badastronomy.com/bad/movies/armpitageddon.html).

I think we can conclude that while Armageddon sucked, The Core both sucked and blowed.

Here is an interesting sidenote to \* The Core\*. A scientist has proposed a possible way to research the core of the earth and in [this](http://www.space.com/scienceastronomy/nasa_core_030514.html) article he mentions that the movie inspired him to publish his proposal.

> [@](#):
>
> The idea is a bit reminiscent of a recently released movie, “The Core,” in which “terranauts” travel into the planet to jumpstart the core, which has stopped rotating and begun to cause all manner of peril at the surface. In an e-mail interview, Stevenson said he first conceived a core mission years ago, and that the scientific connection between the fiction and his fact-based proposal is negligible.
>
> “But the movie prompted me to write my ideas down,” he said.
