[This article](https://conservativehome.blogs.com/goldlist/2006/08/the_costs_of_be.html) is from 2006, but with the American Presidential election cycle winding up and billions about to be spent, I thought the cost of becoming a Conservative MP in Westminster might be of interest to Dopers.

I find that really quite comforting.

Will see if I can find an Australian equivalent.
