It’s often been said – including by me – that JD Vance is a greater threat than Trump should he ever get the presidency because he possesses actual intelligence. It’s important to note that such observations are always relative. Vance could not have the beliefs that he has unless he was as dumb as a bag of rocks, which he is. But Trump is something truly extraordinary in the realm of stupidity. The entirety of his brain, now firmly in the grip of dementia, is something like a clockwork with a broken spring and a missing cog. Vance was at least able to write an apologia for hillbillies, whereas Trump couldn’t even sit still for a ghostwriter, even when he was much younger. To be clear, both are batshit crazy, but Vance can probably hatch actual evil plans, whereas Trump couldn’t plan his way out of a paper bag. ---

The pop-up trump merch stores around here near the election all disappeared not long after. I haven’t seen a basic MAGA hat in the wild in months. Not amongst our locals and not amongst our many tourists. I still see trump bumper stickers every weekish & the occasional flags. There is one idiot I see now and again with a 45/47 hat with some other slogan on it. You remind me there’s a tourist / beach toy store a few miles downcoast from me that used to carry a hefty selection of trumpcrap too. Like all through trump’s first term and nonstop through Biden’s. Which merch means instant total boycott for me. There were a few other t-shirt shops and such nearby which had some trumpcrap shirts along with the normal fare. Anyhow, I’ll probably be in that area within the next few days and will investigate and report back. ---

There used to be a semi-permanent one camped outside a local gun shop. The past few times I’ve been by it’s been closed and locked up in its van. I also am anticipating driving by it soon to see if it just coincidentally was closed. It is usually the same guy selling the merch, so it’s possible I was driving by on his days off or that he was taking a break for unrelated reasons. But since the closure coincided with the beginning of the Iran War, it’s also possible that magacrap just isn’t selling anymore. ---
