[Glen Curtiss](http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glenn_Curtiss). There’s no way I’m going to give any credit to Langley, dammit. 12. Sure it was a boondoggle, and only flew once, but it’s still a wonderfully evocative single aircraft 13. “Curse you, Red Baron!” 14. One of the many successful designs to come out of WWII. I predict that this answer will be full of anti-conchs: Me-262, Bf-109/Me-109, Zero, P-38, PBY, Mosquito, Spitfire and others are all going to be iconic aircraft from this war, as well. 15. Since the F-14 has been retired… 16. I sure hope that this is a conch. The Gooney Bird deserves the recognition. 17. Not bad for a 30+ year design meant to be a stop gap, before the supersonic transports took over the aviation market. 18. Mostly because I dislike Lindbergh. 19. Sure, it’s not an _airplane_ disaster - but it’s _the_ iconic aviation disaster, I believe. 20. It’s a flying aircraft carrier! What could be cooler than that? (Chosen over her less fortunate sister, _Akron_, because she didn’t kill as many of her crew when she crashed. And chosen over _Los Angeles_ because _Los Angeles_ wasn’t an aircraft carrier.) ---

And we all know those death rays were designed for dirigible use… ---
