Are any corrections needed before I post the winners?
- B-17 Flying Fortress 10
- B-29 Superfortress 2
- B-34 1
- B-52 1
- Corsair F4U 3
- Enola Gay 2
- Flying Fortress 1
- Japanese Zero 3
- Messerschmitt 1
- P-51 Mustang 17
- Supermarine Spitfire 9
The underlined ones seem to be the same.
Otherwise, I got nuttin.
For question 4, you may want to count the Enola Gay and the B-29 as the same answer, since the former is just a specific example of the latter.
On 2, Kitty Hawk probably refers to the Wright Brothers Flyer.
FYI, Fokker produced a number of different airplanes during WWI. There were four different models in the E-series. There was also a model called the Dr1, which was the triplane. So a Fokker E is not technically a single plane. A Fokker Triplane and a Fokker E are definitely different planes. And a Fokker E and a Fokker Triplane are both Fokkers but not all Fokkers were E’s or Triplanes. I won’t even try to explain where Ben Stiller fits in all this.
Well, there’s appreciation and then there’s appreciation.
I know it doesn’t really matter, but Charles Lindbergh is NOT an appropriate answer to Question 1.
Why not? Because he’s not “early”? The first solo flight across the Atlantic should count as pioneering, shouldn’t it?
Not being argumentative, just curious.
Sure it is, especially given the following question. It may not be an accurate answer, but it is an appropriate one. The object of the game is to match everybody else, not be correct.
I can say this because I had the same attitude towards a couple of previous Feuds.

ETA: That’s for question #2
It depends on how you care to define pioneering, I’d guess. For me, aviation pioneers are those who advanced the science, engineering, or art of aviation. Curtiss, Alberto Santos-Dumont, Otto Lilienthal, and Howard Hughes, all had a huge impact on how aircraft are made, designed and used. Sikorsky, and Graf von Zeppelin practically defined the fields they are associated with. Billy Mitchell was a pioneer and advocate for aviation warfare, and a visionary who more clearly saw what air theatre combat would be than many. Samuel Langley wanted to be an aviation pioneer, and managed to convince substantial portions of the US government that he was one, but I think that the general consensus of the past 30-50 years is that he was a flim-flam man.
Earhardt, Lindbergh, and even Yeager are people whom I have trouble considering pioneers. A large part of that is because I view the engineering as the key part of the endevour: It doesn’t matter if one person can finesse a design (such as the one pilot who managed to work the notorious B-36 flying wing) if no one else can easily duplicate the result. Earhardt was a pioneer for women, and women in aviation, but her contribution to the field of aviation was minimal. Likewise, Lindbergh seems no more a pioneer to me than “Wrong Way” Corrigan. Just look at how many people forget that Lindbergh was something like the 20th person to fly across the Atlantic - because the publicity for his flight became so over-the-top.
And the winner is ~drumroll~ silenus!!! Way to go! ::flings confetti:: silenus got 9/10 top answers. Awesome! Perfect was 536.00.

Hah! Vengeance is mine! I have slain the bear, and all is Right, Good and Holy in the Land again.
Until next Feud, of course.
I know silenus is entirely correct that “wrong” answers still being valid, but OtakuLoki said it very well: Lindbergh wasn’t much of a pioneer. A skilled and daring pilot, but that’s it. He didn’t come up with anything new.
We pacifists had trouble with this one. Yet I got nosed out by a Worm. Worms got noses???
Nosed out?
I don’t think this means what you think it means. You got stomped by a Worm.
Wait…that doesn’t work either.
Well, that was fun. I thought I’d see more non-American aircraft mentioned, but no worries. Thanks everybody.
I think Worm’s passed out from lack of oxygen at altitude.
Good feud, Elendil and congrats on the win silenus!
Needs me sum pie.
Obviously not a fair feud, Wormy is in the top 5.
