  12. I’ll bet that not many people listed Shimabukuro, but, for the life of me, I couldn’t think of anyone else. Spinal Tap is British. I’m not sure Weird Al counts, despite his tours in Japan. And my long-ago ex’s long-since-broken-up band probably won’t win me any points. I don’t remember what those guys called themselves, anyway.

  12. No clue. He’s weird, Japan’s weird.

  13. Conch, surely.

But you’re both from the UK. How is this “world music”.

And on the same question: Enya? Bjork?

World Music

It is a somewhat silly term, but it does have a widely accepted meaning.

  2. Anni-Frid
  3. Roxette
  4. 99 Luftballons
  5. AC/DC
  6. Guano Apes
  7. Reggae

4: At least I hope I did it big in the US, quite a catching tune
6: Who did a cover of “Big in Japan”
8: Or however you spell it
9: By Rammstein

They divorced quite a few years ago, but I doubt you have that many Fältskogs in Oklahoma either

Enya, since it was the first result that came up (that I recognized) when I googled “world music” + artist

Fair enough. She’s Irish and her music is not identified with a particular part of the world, so I wouldn’t classify her as World Music myself, but it’s no big deal.

Actually, I’m not sure I’d classify her as music.

There’s loads of Byrne stuff in the World Music section of your big music store - or there should be. He practically invented Worldbeat. And Fela Kuti would have done me no better!
