Actually, Io is a very large moon, compared to the rest of those in the Solar System. However it’s the third largest of the Galilean moons, behind Ganymede and Callisto. Europa is the smallest of the four.
Titan is larger than most of the Galilean moons, but a bit less remarked upon.
The top seven moons, in terms of size are as follows:
[ol]
[li]Ganymede, mean radius 2630 km[/li][li]Titan, mean radius 2580 km[/li][li]Callisto, mean radius 2410 km[/li][li]Io, mean radius 1820 km[/li][li]Moon (or Luna), mean radius 1740 km[/li][li]Europa, mean radius 1560 km[/li][li]Triton, mean radius 1350 km[/li][/ol]
After looking over the results, “LARGE planet” was too simple. For my next feud, I’ll double check that there aren’t any questions likely to have a single answer.
All in all, not bad for my first Feud. And I placed in the top ten, too!
Hey, I went with the smallest of the Galilean moons, myself - since I thought that most Dopers would be excited by the whole idea of life on Europa. Compared to that, a few B&W pictures of a muddy slope and shore from Titan just isn’t as exciting. Or so I thought.
Stupid sulfur volcanoes are still more popular.
