On Monday night, Jon Stewart asked the audience to make things really hard on him for the next four years. 😃 I actually thought the show went rather well, and that Jon Stewart didn’t act like he’d just suffered a crushing defeat. ---

Well, Jon wasn’t the one being defeated, and he will get a lot of good material over the next four years. But I do think there was an undertone of sorrow in the show. ---

I’m watching the rerun now. Stephen Colbert’s delivery of the following was absolutely outstanding: “Somewhere in America, in a McDonald’s, perhaps, a young man is spilling hot coffee on his lap. Who will help him, and his _scalded groin_?” ---

It’s kind of ironic. The Daily Show’s key demographic didn’t actually vote all that much. Eh, maybe in '06. ---

Unfortunately, I spent the early part of the evening watching “actual” news, which I kicked myself for once I remembered the Daily Show would be covering the election, too. I came in right in the middle of the Weld/Sharpton interview, and I have never seen anything so funny and political at the same time. Kudos to Weld for being a Republican with a sense of humor, props to Sharpton (who I usually hate) for keeping his spirits up despite all the nail-biting suspense, and I have never loved Jon Stewart more than when I saw him desperately trying to reel Sharpton in. Fantastic news coverage … bad ending. _sigh__continues packing for move to Canada_ ---

This morning’s press conference should give Stewart enough material for several shows. "Now that I have the will of the people behind me . . . " and something about being **invited** to Iraq?
