Just saw some larger previews & it might just work. AND they showed a glimpse of Gort!

Actually, now that I think of it, a film that follows the short story would be kind of dull. Good story, but not cinematic.

From what I can piece together from a couple of sites & the previews…

The first craft lands at a remote site. Others follow & land throughout the world. Klaatu (Keanu Reeves) is not humanoid but is an alien entity that occupies a human body. Instead of warning humanity about possible judgment, it’s already beginning & he’s there to oversee it. However, he might also be able to halt it, and maybe Jennifer Connelly & her little boy can move him to do so.  
Gort does appear & the famous three words are used, tho not necessarily in the same way.
