I’ve only ever owned a dell laptop (PC wise I’ve tended to build my own), and I think they are just fine.

As for customer service, I am convinced it sucks everywhere.

Why not both? 🙂

I followed your link and upped the system to the specs of 750 GB HDD and 22" monitor; the price is $829. So you owe me 130 trillion Zimbabwe dollars.

> My favorite are the big old standard definition CRT TVs people think they’re going to get 90% of what they paid five years ago. Here’s a hint: you know how you’re selling it because you just got a great deal on a flat screen HDTV? You’re not the only one. Everyone on earth is dumping their CRTs, it’s not exactly a seller’s market. And even if you were the only one selling, you should probably consider pricing it less than what a similarly sized flat screen would cost. Just a thought.

There was an article in the [Washington Post](http://voices.washingtonpost.com/fasterforward/2009/01/the_state_of_the_flat-panel_tv.html) recently about how no one wants to buy a used CRT. Apparently Goodwill only takes them if they are digital ready.

I gave up looking at electronics on Ebay and Craiglist since the majority of the items are overpriced.

> I see it for pets. I saw one ad in which a woman had found a stray dog who was aggressive and had medical problems. But she indicated in the ad that she would be very picky about who she let adopt the dog. It had to be someone with no other pets and who had at lest an acre of land for the dog to run around on.

> I’m sure there were tons of people with acres of fenced land who desperately wanted the aggressive sick dog.

Not disagreeing with the general idea, but in this case, if the dog is aggressive and sick, I think it’s probably a _good_ idea to be picky about who takes it on.

My one experience with Dell customer service was fantastic. They diagnosed my monitor as busted over the phone (having me perform the idiot tests like “is it unplugged?”) at 9:00 pm.

The next morning the replacement monitor arrived free of charge at 8:00 am.

That’s less than 12 hours to deliver new hardware from California to Virginia for free.

Can’t complain.
