But in a slightly different way. Now, I’m not mentioning any names because that’ll turn into a big cite contest. And, frankly, I don’t feel like looking up past quotes. But I see a lot of people here that would just as soon piss on Christ’s burning eyes as concede that within a church there are some people that hold morals in high regard, without taking a dig at them. In an effort to feel better about the anything goes thought, they have to be over-the-top defensive about anyone that wants to keep traditions in their church going. And here’s the kicker. Of those I’m talking about, they bash **moriah** by using Jesus and the Bible to back the argument saying He would disagree, then head to other threads to say how He either doesn’t exist, or was insignificant. ---

I see the point you’re making on this. But even in churches that don’t have a/c the service usually lasts only 45 minutes or so. And it’s not like we’re talking the heavy full-body wool dress that people wore a hundred years ago. My Church was built over 100 years ago and has nothing but stained-glass and a few small windows for circulation. Even if we get triple digits, I can wear a full suit and survive. Along with the 90 year old men. (Luckily, thanks to global warming, we’ve had a very cool summer) ---

Have you seen what many people in Africa wear to church - to me, they look very respectable, certainly no baring of midriffs or low cut tops. Since when was dressing slutty something that only the poor do. Poor people have always attended churches and in the past, shown up in descent dress. ---

As one who has not been to church in decades, I just have three things to say: 1. If it weren’t for teenage girls dressing slutty to go to Mass, I would have been completely bored for 90 minutes every Sunday for years. 2. I think that the entire purpose of the OP, and the thread in general, is to entertain **moriah** … who is probably thrilled beyond expectation that this thread has gone to _five pages_ already. Congratulations. 3. Some of you may be happy to hear that the fashion press is declaring that [‘Slutwear’ Is So Last Year](http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=573&e=12&u=/nm/fashion_slutwear_dc). I, for one, am certainly not. I happen to think female navels and armpits are sexy. ---

Thanks, Moriah, this was one of the funniest threads I’ve read in awhile … until I started seeing \*so many \*damn people being so slow on the uptake. Sigh. In my memory, at one time the SDMB was a place where people recognized wit and didn’t need things to be spelled out in block letters. ---
