My doctor wants me to come in for surgery next week to remove some cysts from my ovaries. They aren’t sure at this point whether or not they’re cancerous. Hopefully the cysts will be benign and he can remove them easily with the laproscop. If they are cancerous he says I will need a hysterectomy and possibly chemotherapy! That is the worst case scenerio though… hopefully it won’t be this bad. This really freaks me out because I’m only 25 years old and would like to have more children someday! The thought of having any kind of surgery scares me because I’ve never had to have surgery before but the thought of never being able to have more children really breaks my heart. I guess I’m just going to ask the doctor a million questions before I let him do anything to me so I fully understand what’s going to happen. Just say a little prayer for me (or think good thoughts) that these cysts are benign and can be removed easily. My doctor wanted me to come in this Friday for surgery but I can’t because I have to be moved out of my old house by July 1st and still have lots of packing and cleaning to do. I need to have a home set up for my children before I have this done, that’s the most important thing right now. More than likely I will go in on Monday and have it done. Looks like I’m gonna miss our 4th of July parade and fireworks. ☹ ---

Rachelle, know that you have all my best thought. I’ve known many a woman who’s had ovarian cysts. I’m no doctor, but I believe that cysts are more likely at your age. And if it turns out that you do have cancer, well, I’ve been down that road and I’m always free for support or if you just wanna bitch about the sucky stuff. :: thinking good thoughts :: ---

My wife went in for ovarian cysts several years ago. We now have a three-year-old daughter. Having ovarian cysts removed does not end your chances of childbearing. They probably helped, in our case. So cheer up. After my wife had hers removed I brought her a present to make her feel better - two gift-wrapped boxes. She opened the first one and found a ceramic “Precious Moments” figure. She looked at me with a very puzzled expression. You have to understand that my wife LOATHES Precious Moments figures. (So do I). “Open the other one,” I said. She did. Inside was a hammer. As soon as she could get up we pounded that simpering little figure into powder. It would probably be worth a small fortune today, but it was worth it. ---
