> Anyone watched the Jon Pertwee’s “Cuese of Peladon” with Patrick Troughton son in it as King Peladon. or the David Tennent one with Peter Davison’s daughter in it - called the [Doctors Daughter](http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz/article-1343909/David-Tennant-marry-Georgia-Moffett-daughter-ex-Doctor-Who-Peter-Davison.html). More like that would be good.

David Troughton also played Professor Hobbes in one of the best and scariest Tennant-era episodes, “Midnight”. That one would have made a great Twilight Zone.

I forgot that one - the diamond planet one. Yes that was a good one - you could imagin it in the twilight zone set on a plane

I’m a little torn by this series. I love that they show the old serials and go in depth into the character development but while there is a lot of what, there is very little why. Why did Hartnell leave Doctor Who (I know but they didn’t say in the BBC programme). Why did they decide to go with a different personality than Hartnell? Was it a deliberate choice (like on MASH) or something that just happened?

On the plus side, after seeing the serials, Mrs Cad no longer says how cheesy ST:TOS looks.

I was worried about this too. The only first doctor episode I’ve seen is the Aztecs and the only second doctor episode I’ve seen is The Mind Robber because these are the only ones available on Netflix streaming.

John Barrowman is the first former Companion to confirm that he’s been approached about the 50th.

Consider that Steven Moffat wrote the scene where River Song knew the Doctor’s name in the episode _Forest of the Dead_. It’s always been one of those things that he’s seen has story potential.

Yup, I can say that, but only if you mean the tv series, IIRC the first film came out before the tv series, and anyway we could not afford to go to the pictures back then.

That first series was hardly even science fiction to be honest, I remember a load of cavemen shuffling around - it seemed pretty tame at the time.

And I was quite sure he’d decided to forget all about it, until seeing this (awesome) trailer. Looks like I’ve got until the fall to mainline all the Classic Who I can so I’ll be up to speed.

I thought they did from the classic Who DVDs that are still being released.

I remember they used to show an episode of Blakes 7 followed by a Who omnibus every saturday morning on cable TV. Wish I had taped some of the episodes, would have saved me money on DVDs later down the line 🙂

> I stand corrected. Tomb of the Cyberman is an excellent example of classic Doctor Who. If you ignore the props and the actor playing the Captain (doing his best John Wayne impression) this episode is better than some of the new Who I’ve seen

The surviving and one restored Troughton stories from his final season are quite enjoyable, The Mind Robber, The Invasion, The Seeds of Death and the lengthy final 2nd Doctor story The War Games. Novelisations of his missing episodes/serials suggest that they would have been equally so.
