The Dresden Files 4/1/07 (spoilers)

I have to agree with levdrakon, their stories are too large for the time slot.

In brighter news: I picked up the new book today! Hooray! Good reading for a few days.

Ha, Khadaji and levdrakon, my first thought when the episode concluded was: “I wish they could have had a bit more time to tell that story…”; it seemed a bit rushed.

Other than that, I thought it was excellent (if a bit predictable, but who cares really). And credit to Terrence Mann for the split nanosecond that I actually thought he had turned to the dark side. “Nooooo, Boooob!”

I felt a bit evil myself for tee-heeing about how Bob being alive would have caused the spontaneous combustion of some canon fanatics (I haven’t read the books myself and am quite exhausted at times by the nitpicking - don’t kill me, the books just haven’t arrived from Amazon yet, and next season I’ll be nitpicking right along with ya).

I thought Bob didn’t turn on Harry not because he wasn’t tempted with mortality. But Justin obviously lied to him about becoming truly mortal again…he’s not somebody I would trust very far. There probably would have been more strings attached. That, and as **Balance **already noted Bob seems to have developed a much better rapport with Harry than with Justin - note how rudely Justin orders him out of his skull in the beginning.

so envious… :stuck_out_tongue:

is it ‘white knight?’

well, shoot. i was going after the post about the new book.
silly me. serves me right for trying to post so fast.

is it?

The climax may have been predictable, although it seemed to me that Bob kept the charade going just slightly longer than I would normally expect. However, what I thought was relatively innovative was that Justin had in fact died, that Harry had in fact killed him. Too often when a villain is ‘killed’, it’s really just an elaborate hoax, or they survived by the skin of their teeth, or something. Justin really did die, he just had a contingency plan ready. I thought that was fairly cool.

I also thought the outcome was predictable…but still enjoyed this episode for the most part. I wish they’d stop messing around with the editing though…it seems to me that this is another episode that was aired out of order. And I was a bit disappointed at the lack of a magical brawl between Harry and Justin. That would have been much more in line with both the original story…and my personal desire to see guys flinging magic at each other!

Actually, I believe this is the first episode that’s been shown in its proper slot. It makes sense, since it refers heavily to older episodes, and judging by the teaser for the next episode, they’re starting to serialize the plots more, so things would necessarily need to be in order from here on out.

That would be great - I like serial plot arcs. Speaking of the next episode: Does it air this Sunday? Somebody said that they would air a rerun due to the schedule change, and I can’t seem to get the Scifi site to tell me which episode is on when.

(My books have been dispatched from Amazon now! The excitement builds!)

I think they’re running two episodes this and next Sunday: one new, one rerun.

Ah, thank you, that explains the conflicting information…

I’m glad I have kept up with this thread. I record the show - Sunday’s rerun is at the normal time - 9:00 and the new one is at 10:00. If I hadn’t been reading this thread I would have missed the new show!

Thanks!

Sooooo, what the heck is Bob’s actual name? It was stated again this week, but my ears have bits of crunchy peanut butter in them.

Could someone with knowledge about the series start a new thread?

It’s “Hrothbert of Bainbridge”. I’d probably call him “Bob”, too.
