If I tell my computer I live in London and set Steam to London (and modify my system time appropriately) can I trick Steam into unlocking sooner?
I know when I have had problems downloading due to peak demand telling Steam I lived in Canada helped me and got a download running right away.

**Kinthalis** , that last comment about the people coming to get me was hilarious. You _do_ have a sense of humor, maybe I’m just not funny, my off-handed jokes are met with such hostility I’m beginning to think that I’m not (either that or I’m joking about things people like **SenorBeef** take personally). 🙂
I’m so freaking jealous that you guys get to play tonight, and I have to wait till Monday… Damn you cruel world!

No unlock here…yet. First thing I checked when I got home. I figure I’ll wait until midnight, if it’s not unlocked by then I’ll just check it out in the morning. No work tomorrow so I have all day to play. 😉

Fortunately you haven’t that long to wait. Steam dutifully updated its Store page past 0001 GMT to inform us all that it is NOW AVAILABLE, in ALL CAPS. American Dopers have only a few short hours before they see that beautiful message…
Pre-ordered mine in disc format (it’s TES for God’s sake! Want the physical copy), so I am with my brothers across the sea in spirit. If I was mental I could waste the money and get it on Steam too to play it a few hours earlier, but I’m not that rich or stupid.

I watched the videos in the OP and had a nerdgasm.
I grew up playing D&D in my basement. There have been a lot of RPG games in the past and they were good and I was excited each time. This is another step till I get my own holodeck.
For now I feel like a kid before Christmas waiting to open my presents.

ETA: I should also mention, to add to my cool-factor, that I started playing the game half past midnight after getting home from a Flogging Molly concert. It’s been a good day. And holy shit, it’s now 4:30 AM.

FYI Everyone:
Bethesda has released a [Day 1 Patch](http://www.digitaltrends.com/gaming/skyrim-will-launch-with-day-one-patch-to-improve-stability/).
Not sure how it works on different systems and media (XBox, PC/Steam, PC/Disk, etc).
Just be aware it is out there and look to make sure you got it.

That must have been the update I got when I logged into Steam. Was wondering what that was…thought for a minute it was the activation code or whatever, but it was just a patch.

I saw that too. At first I was bummed thinking it was some major download and it was coming in at 80 Kbps (way below usual…figured the server was slammed). Turned out to be a small download though so even at that speed it only took a minute or two.
At least I hope that is what that was. I don’t want to wait when it unlocks longer than I have to.
I have work tomorrow so I am pushing it but I hope to get a couple hours in.

I don’t have to work tomorrow, but I’m dead tired…it’s been a long week. I’m hoping to be able to stay up late enough to get the unlock, maybe play around with character creation and see the opening videos. I’m planning to basically play most of tomorrow, assuming that for once I have pre-ordered a game that actually works on the first day and is fun.

I’m in the same boat. Off tomorrow (though I ahve a doc’s appointment in the afternoon! Damn doctors!), really just looking to get some intro goodness and start my character then drop dead in bed.
