He’s just a lunatic who has an axe to grind with atheists in general and James Randi in particular. His online handle is David Mabus and you can view his style of jabbering if you Google that name or “atheism is dead.” His first posts were a little more about Randi (and Nostradamus) and a little less hostile to atheists, but they were still nuts. He also makes Dr. Bronner look like Shakespeare. ---

The last few weeks he’s taken to dropping by every day, more or less. It didn’t used to happen that often. He’d post once or twice and then go away for six months. His meds aren’t working or something. I don’t know who’s banned him the most lately, but I’m guessing I’m in the lead overall. I’ve whacked him about a dozen times. ---

I’ve long since stopped reading his posts, but on mouseover previews I’ve noticed he’s taken to starting them with wording like “hello my little atheists, your board is under supernatural attack…” Does he think we’re mystified by the working of the copy and paste function or computers? We know he’s not an invasion, he’s one loser in the Montreal area. Talk about overstating your abilities! ---

I saw him last night right before he got nuked. His posts really weren’t that bad, at least in terms of spelling, format, nice links, etc. I’ve seen worse in GD. 🙂 ---

This thread was hidden for most of Friday, but after some discussion we decided to move it back. Normally we try to downplay questions about people like this because we don’t want the perps to be encouraged by the attention and keep coming back for more. But “David Mabus” is coming to the SDMB about once a night, so I don’t think he’s going to be encouraged or discouraged by this thread. (I banned him again about an hour ago, which brings my score to 16.) And a bunch of Dopers are already aware of who he is due to his persistence, so there’s not much point in trying to keep people from asking about him. “Atheism is Dead” is already the name of the first quarter SDMB Poker Group.
