If judges are elected, then judges become a group of high-powered partisan politicians.
Set up a bipartisan committee to choose judges. Give them a deadline, all judge positions shall be filled by a certain date. Only judges that get 100% approval from the committee are eligible. Judges will have to have middle-of-the-road inoffensive track records to have a chance. This is a good thing.
