Because Thursday is the US Thanksgiving and a lot of folks will be away later this week, I’ve launched both of this week’s threads tonight. They are [Contemporary Classical](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=345831) and [Pop](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=345832). ---

Hello all. I’m loving this project, and am even at the point of putting it to use as a shopping list of albums I \*need \*to buy. Only problem is, it’s tough to extract from the thread. So, I’ve taken the liberty of creating the simplified list of the Essential Music by genre. There are probably errors and there are probably omissions. It’s not easy to do. Have a look: [http://essentialmusic.blogspot.com](http://essentialmusic.blogspot.com) I could really use some help (not only adding new genres but cleaning up the lists already there). Let’s colaborate! You’ll need a (free) blogger account, and I can add you as an admin. It’s the poor man’s Wiki! Let me know. ---

> [@ultrafilter](#): > > Starting this week, I’m going to do two threads a week rather than one. Expect the next thread late Wednesday night. Two will probably go through unnoticed. But a word of warning: **Don’t do 3**. Your threads will be reported as spam, you’ll ruffle feathers, and get an e-mail from TPTB that reads: _‘Are these with soi-disant music threads that different from week to week? It’s irritating me and it’s irritating others. I’m officially asking you to limit this nonsense to one thread per week.’_ ---
