Seems to me that most of the cake lovers here, **evilbeth** excluded, like icing, sugar and all the other shit they pile on top of cake to make it look good, NOT the cake itself. A simple sponge cake is ok, but anyone with some sense would choose a nice apple pie over that… Now, you must realize that this is my choice given the choices. if there was the option of cheesecake, well it’d be close… or High pie that i make at work. Yes, it has pie in the name, but it’s more like an ice cream cake. man, i could go for one of them right about now, mmmmmmmmmm! ---

Mmm…pie. Definately. Warm apple pie with a scoop of real vanilla ice cream on the side. Gooey Southern Pecan pie with lovely crunchy on the top pecans on top. Light and fluffy Strawberry Jello pie. A filling that doesn’t even need a crust to be scrumpteous. Tart and tangy Lemon Icebox pie that’s so rich you gain a pound just making it. Pardon me. I have to go make a pie now. ---

I can’t believe that nobody, not even the New Yorkers, mentioned **baklava** , which definitely falls into the category of PIE. Other than that I would have, a plain croissant(pie), a butterhorn(pie), or a bear’s claw(pie). I would like pie if it didn’t make me gag every time I looked at it. ---

Cake. Chocolate Blackout cake to be exact. A sinfully rich, dense dark chocolate cake, with a light layer of thick dark chocolate frosting, and a thin slice of succulent dark chocolate resting delicately on top of every slice. Oh god, it’s an orgasm on a plate, I tell ya, every bite a jolt of pleasure from the taste buds to your toes. ---

Now I am in the mood to bake a pie. Apple of course with butter and cinnamon and just a pinch of cloves in the filling, not too sweet either. My pastry is to die for but if you are calorie concious I have a recipe for an equally delicious oatmeal crust. My theory is that cakes are like people, the icing might look really good but it’s what’s inside that really counts. I despise icing. Pie rules. ---

I’m of 2 minds on the subject. There’s Boston Cream Pie, which is really a cake. There’s cheesecake, which is more pie than cake to my mind. And then there is pecan pie, which is the most scrumptious thing on the planet… Where are my keys??? ---

I think its sour cream chocolate cake with bittersweet chocolate ganache instead of frosting (actually, I hate most buttercream frosting)… … or maybe its apple pie made with Northern Spy apples. hmm… Yup, its both. CAKE AND PIE 4EVER! ---

Hmmm, lessee now. . . Well, I’d have to say pie. What? Oh, the cake is a marble pound cake from Stock’s Bakery? Yeah, I’ll have that. Sheesh, the pie is pecan pie? And it’s still warm? Well, I’ll have some of that, then. I’ll save the pound cake for breakfast tomorrow. A scoop of Breyer’s Vanilla on top? Yes, please. Ah, you’re out of pound cake, you say? And you’re substituting rum cake from Termini’s Bakery? Is it too late to change my order to a slice of that with a scoop of spumoni on the side? No? Good, I’ll have that, please. Oh my goodness, apple pie? Still warm too, eh? Sure, I’ll have that instead. Ooooh, angel food cake? The real thing where you whip the hell out of a bunch of egg whites as opposed to pouring mix into a pan? Cancel my order, I’ll have that with hot fudge and strawberries, please. Definately pie. Homemade coconut cream with real, hand-shredded fresh coconut and real cream for the mix and a lightly browned meringue on top. MMmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm, now I’m hungry. ---
