The ethical obligation to save souls after a physical demise

Guin, we don’t put proxy baptisms on the member roles. All we do is note that the work has been done for them in the Church genealogy index. As we’ve said, we don’t assume anything about whether they’ve accepted or not.

I do understand your feelings, and I think it’s natural to feel that way. That’s partly why we spend so much time trying to explain ourselves; so that people will understand that we’re not trying to offend everyone or force anything. But we consider it an extremely important work that we are commanded to do.

Oh well then, I appologize. I guess when people see the word “baptism”, it just doesn’t register as something like a “choice,” per se.

Here is your chance to read a chapter a day of the four Gospels.

In the meantime I will look up the reference and return to you as soon as I find it.

Best regards,

Susma Rio Sep

PS: Unless that incident has been expunged for being certified to be apocryphal.

Abby, I assume Susma is referring to Matthew 22 or Mark 12 (or both). I promised a while back to start a thread on this. Maybe I’ll finally get around to it.

Ok, Thanks emarkp.

Thanks emarkp.

Here, Abby; but it’s not heaven; quite near though, after the resurrection. Will that do?

*Mt 22:30 - For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels of God in heaven.

Mr 12:25 - For when they rise from the dead, they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.*

I hope you people here are not annoyed by my attempts at humor. As I said elsewhere, nothing like good humor to keep our feet on firm earth.
Best regards,

Susma Rio Sep

emarkp has indicated he is going to respond to your question.

You may find it hard to believe, but I am not following you around reading all your post history. So I wasn’t aware this is all about humor for you.

I’m as quick as anyone to send a friend inside or outside the church a humorous story or insight to LDS living. I have quite the collection of green jello jokes. However, I didn’t see humor in your posts and I didn’t realize your inquires were posted as attempts at humor. Additionally, I am not interested in participating in threads where your intent is board humor with regards to things that are deeply held beliefs and sacred whether those beliefs or mine or someone of another faith.

Erroso,
