There even one of the earlier members of the aptly named ‘European Union’. No Brit exceptionalism here. ---

It really feels like most of the answers are gonna be all over the place… not many matches (apart from maybe WW1 and Chezchoslovakia (sp?)) ---

Not Checho or Chezcho. Certainly not Czechoslavia ( **5-4-fighting** ) or Checkosalvacia ( **Zebra** ). Czechoslovakia. It’s where the Czechs and the Slovaks used to live. ---

The ‘cz’ thing is something you see in modern Polish, which has a spelling system that’s lightyears apart from the Czech system. And actually, when you learn something about these languages, you’ll find that they’re actually using pretty sensible systems (esp. when comparing to English) that no vodka-drinker could ever have devised. ---

[/QUOTE] To end the hijack with my final post of the day (since I’m about to hit the office door running). I fully acknowledge that I neither know Czech, nor Polish but it just looks so completely strange to me. Especially Polish, with all the “zwj” and consonants mushed together. My misconception is completely based on ignorance, which I fully acknowledge and I do apologize if I came on somewhat harsh on those languages. It was not meant as anything but a “wise ass joke”. Now back to the Feud ---
