Well … I guess I just don’t know when to throw in the towel! Seriously though, it’s still fun to play, even when my answers don’t seem to match many others.

there’s nothing 'easy about that. The UK is in Europe, not in Asia, Africa, Oceania, Antarctica or the Americas. Simple as that. There even one of the earlier members of the aptly named ‘European Union’. No Brit exceptionalism here.
It really feels like most of the answers are gonna be all over the place… not many matches (apart from maybe WW1 and Chezchoslovakia (sp?))
I was thinking the same and realized you’d be the only person who might say that, provided event that you came across this thread in time. So I went with the more obvious options

- Danube
- Beethoven
- Czechoslovakia
- Germany
- WW I

- Mt. Etna

Czechoslovakia. Not Checho or Chezcho. Certainly not Czechoslavia (5-4-fighting) or Checkosalvacia (Zebra). Czechoslovakia. It’s where the Czechs and the Slovaks used to live.
Spelling in Czech and Polish must be invented by people after a quite a few bottle of vodka

And that first sentence was written by me, even before my first beer of the day… :smack:
Not to derail your feud, but the spelling of words such as Czech and Czechoslovakia with ‘cz’ is still done English, but not in Czech, or at least, not Czech for the last 150 or so years. The ‘cz’ thing is something you see in modern Polish, which has a spelling system that’s lightyears apart from the Czech system. And actually, when you learn something about these languages, you’ll find that they’re actually using pretty sensible systems (esp. when comparing to English) that no vodka-drinker could ever have devised.
To end the hijack with my final post of the day (since I’m about to hit the office door running). I fully acknowledge that I neither know Czech, nor Polish but it just looks so completely strange to me. Especially Polish, with all the “zwj” and consonants mushed together.
My misconception is completely based on ignorance, which I fully acknowledge and I do apologize if I came on somewhat harsh on those languages.
It was not meant as anything but a “wise ass joke”.
Now back to the Feud
Thanks ever so much for giveing me my daily dose of snark.
No snark intended. I just really don’t see why the UK should be seen as not Europe in any way.
Yanno, I really expected that East Germany would be a Conch for former European nations. And so far I haven’t even gotten a match. sob

I don’t. I’m just pissed that I assumed ‘contintental Europe’ when I could have had the whole panoply of Bitish rock stars to choose from.
Yes you did (me). See ya at the bottom of the standings.
