Given all the hullabaloo[sup]1[/sup] that’s happened recently and how quickly things devolve into chaos[sup]2[/sup], I’d like to announce the opening of **The Eutychus Appreciation Thread**. With his [retirement from Moderator status](http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=198500) (although thankfully continuing as the editor of [_teemings_](http://www.teemings.com) for the time being), now seems an appropriate time for those who would like to show their appreciation for all of **Eutychus** ’ many years of hard work and uncompensated toil[sup]3[/sup] to do so.
So, c’mon! Let’s hear from you![sup]4[/sup]

Well, I didn’t really know Eutychus that well. But in my time here he has always done a good job, and I’ve enjoyed reading his threads / posts. I hope he reads this thread, and perhaps when he sees that he has so many friends on the board he will come back and start posting again. After all, it doesn’t matter that he is no longer a moderator. Thats not important. He is still a valued member of the SDMB, and he has a lot of support here - I’ve seen it for myself.

Here’s to you Euty! A wonderful moderator, entertaining poster and all around good guy. Your rewrite of Frank Sinatra’s “My Way” was the only time in my life I can think of where I sat in front of my monitor and applauded to an empty room.

I have known **Eutychus** for a _very_ long time by internet standards - going on six years now. I’ve seen him go through a lot of stuff, some extremely unpleasant. And I’ve never thought that he was anything other than a good and loyal person. I wish him only the best, and much much happiness in the future.

I seen people on here say that moderating is a tedious, frustrating, thankless job.
I hope that we can at least take the “thankless” part out of it.
