I think this has been done before, but due to some hurtful comments made by some of our members in a recent Pit thread, I just wanted to extend to **Eve** a heartfelt missive. I think she is an outstanding contribution to our boards. She is witty and intelligent and hot damn, she’s beautiful. She’s also one of the classiest people I’ve ever come into contact with and I was thrilled when she posted to my recent birthday thread. I want to grow up to be just like Eve, but I’ll never have one-thousandth of the charm and grace under fire. Here’s to you Eve. I think you’re swell. ---

It’s one of the bigger disappointments of my recent life that I didn’t get to meet Eve in New York. My dear, if you ever desire to travel to Canada you are welcome in my home. ---

So one of the things I do in my free time is work for email lists for gay, lesbian, bi, and trans teenagers. Not so many trans teenagers, really, but whenever one comes around and asks for help I point them towards the trans threads I have archived. Never really thought of mentioning it before, but… well, I guess this is as good a time as any. Eve, your words and the words of the other transfolk on the boards have helped me and my co-workers keep a group of trans teenagers alive and let them know that damn it, they’re not alone and not freaks and can grow up to be fabulous, strong and proud men and women. Thought you should know that. ---

I can’t email **Eve** , much as I’d like to. But I want to tell her that she is an idol of mine; I open every thread she posts in, I revel in her writing. Her poise, charm and humor are wonderful to behold; her eloquence, wit and warmth are something that I aspire to be able to mimic shallowly someday. I want to tell her that if she was to ever ask me for advice, I’d be more flattered than I’ve ever been; heck, I’m flattered when she answers a post of mine in one of her threads. Here I am, 38, a happy, well-respected man, and I’m still glowing over the fact that she responded to my post in her Furniture Psychic thread. It’s people like **Eve** that make this world worth living in. ---

In addition to her valuable contributions to the SDMB, Eve also has written some wonderful books that I have very much enjoyed, the more so for feeling that I “know” the author. Thanks Eve! ---

Some time ago **Eve** posted a thread with the title “All About Eve”. Many posters remarked at her ability to tie in her own personal life/issues with a movie (of the same name) that also dealt with personal issues that were, at the time, probably similarly dealt with by most of America: push the person away as far as you can, and who cares what happens to them? I thought to myself “It’s **Eve**. It’s what she does.” The things she does with grace and ease leave many of the rest of us sweating and panting in what I can only describe as … less than graceful and less than easy:) It would not come as a shock to me if Mighty Cecil himself had said to **Eve** , back in early 1999 when this board was still being formed apart from the AOL board, “Eve, you are my rock, and on this rock I shall build my church.”🙂 ---

The Pit thread in question was mercifully and swiftly locked, so you may want to have a sleeve-roll-status stand-down. 🙂 I don’t know that we’ve ever interacted, but from reading, Eve’s always struck me as being just a generally classy, cool, calm, and collected sort of lady. ---
