After seeing her picture, I can say with utter conviction that **Eve** is dang purty. I mean _dang_ purty. ---

When I began reading at SDMB last October, Eve was one of the first posters that got my attention. What a gift for writing! And wit! And insight! If the Algonquin round table were revived, she would be perfect for it! Eve, if I could pick one person from SDMB to spend a day with, it would be you. For one thing, I would like to know the source of your courage. And for another, I would want to hear some rowdy and entertaining tales. As Cole Porter said, “You’re the top!” ---

Pit thread is … well … in the pit, and I hope rapidly sinking to the bottom of the floor, so to speak. Some of the things said therein were really rather heinous. ---

I was hoping **Eve** had an email address handy because there were things I have wanted to say to **Eve** about where she fits in my life that just seem strange out here in public, particularly as I don’t think we have ever directly spoken or even been in the same thread. I lurked for a long time before registering here and **Eve** has always been a favourite poster, when she revealed her past it just made me admire her more, what a thing to feel coerced into revealing and then to do so with such grace. **Eve** is a very big part of why I come here and is one of those life teachers that seem to come along just when we need them most. Well, **Eve** has been that for me anyway and that is without a single direct word spoken, until now. I do not do mush well, no matter how sincere and honest. Sorry about that. ---

I’ve never met **Eve** in person or even interacted with her much on the boards, but I am ever so glad she’s here. I read every thread she starts. I invariably learn something I didn’t know before, and she’s opened up whole new fields of interest for me. That’s what these boards are for, right? I find myself indebted to someone I’ve never met for expanding my horizons. It’s a minor goal in my life to meet her in person, shake her hand, and thank her for what she’s done. We’re fortunate to have her here. ---

When I first posted to this thread, I hadn’t a clue what really prompted it. All I thought was, “Who would be mean to **Eve**?” But I went on to post my appreciation. Now that I’ve read the threads in question (or as much as I could stomach), I realize my words were woefully inadequate. **Eve** is the classiest woman on this board (and that’s saying a lot). She has a wonderfully sharp wit, beautiful humor, and she knows when to give the most well-placed cuts direct. She comports herself with such incredible grace and dignity on this board that I suspect she’s very much the same way in person. I’ve seriously thought, “I hope I can be like her when I’m her age.” I’ve also wondered if I ever needed to go to NYC if I could get to meet her. I have this vision: I’m sitting at a dinner table with my [agent/editor/publisher] when [he/she] points and says, “See that woman over there? That’s Eve Golden,” and I would exclaim loudly, “I know her,” and jump up and run over there, screaming, “ **Eve, Eve**! It’s me, **DeadlyAccurate** from the Straight Dope!” (I never said I _would_ be as dignified as her, just that I’d like to be). Class, grace, wit and humor. _That’s_ **Eve**. Now if we can just get her to own a pair of blue jeans. ---

I remember when Eve returned here after a spell away, having been unsure about how she felt about being here. Of course, I delighted in the many crumbs of wit and culture she once again flicked our way. But I also appreciated the small victory that her return represented, and the manner in which it was taken. ---

I’ve adored and respected Eve from the moment I met her. I am also the proud owner of all of her published works, including an autographed copy of “Vamp”. She has taught me so much and honestly, the SDMB wouldn’t be readable without her contributions. side note: My jaw dropped when I read some of those comments directed towards transgendered individuals in that GD thread. Pathetic and deplorable are words that come to mind. ---

I had the opportunity to have dinner with both **Eve** and her mother. We had a great time; she’s just as witty and charming in real life as she is on the boards. And she’s just a doll. Really. 😃 **Eve** , I just wanted to say I’m glad you’re still here. You’re a wonderfully classy lady, and I hope you know that there are plenty of people who do not share the views of Pete and Re-Pete. ---

One of my favorite posters. Smart, funny, insightful. In all the “What celebrity do you look like?” threads, she mentions that she looks like the love child of Frank Zappa and Cher, always with the tone that that’s not a good thing. That turns out not to be the case. When she went on hiatus a while back, a great big honkin’ bunch of life went out of the board, and it was a lesser place until she returned. ---
