It’s about as “possible” as discovering that there’s no such thing as gravity and it’s all faked by a near-infinite number of invisible fairies pulling on all the matter in the universe in such a way as to simulate gravity. There’s just as much evidence for that as there is for God. In fact, it’s more plausible than God.
Der Trihs believes science and all its branches rules out the possibility that GOD or any spirit being exists and calls those of us who believe otherwise ‘Delusional.’ My ‘Being a doctor’ would have nothing to do with the discussion we were having were I not thoroughly familiar with what a delusion is, and is not.
I’ve provided ample evidence in many post showing that believers are not delusional. (Well, some might be, but that would be for other reasons and not because they’re believers.) So, in stating my profession, my intent was to assert that my medical knowledge of what constitutes a delusion is sufficient to invalidate Der Trihs’ use of the word.
No comment on Nessie and said-to-be faked moon landings.
This seems like an absurdity to me. What are you trying to prove. Was DT in the room with some one else? Did you know it? Do you have super powers to have someone sneak in the room with Him and have them tap him on his shoulder?
I dispells any thing you are trying to prove and makes your argument seem like nonsense.
What is around you is not proof of ‘a’ God, just that somethings exist. You believe it is God, others do not, so to say it is proof (unless you mean God to be what exists) it rather undoes your argument. You were told or taught or read there was’a’God so your belief is in the persons or person who told you, not in God.
If you were being honest you would say,“I ‘believe’ I have a personal relationship with the Father, Son ,and Holy spirit’”. It is not a fact, but a belief and there is a great difference between the two.
When you say “God made a promise” you are using what some human said God did and you believe that person. You cannot in all honesty say God’s Laws are written on your heart, for what is written on your heart is totally different than what is written on many others. Just as Muslims believe God personally dictated the Koran to Muhammed.
Der Trihs defended his beliefs and then you claimed he was using misdirection because you weren’t talking about those. He then named a bunch of others you might be talking about and you didn’t respond. I then asked you to point out which belief he has and you just keep claiming it’s obvious and refuse to answer, dragging this out like a child.
He didn’t change the subject; he asked which belief he was talking about and you refused to answer. I hope you really are done unless you’re just going to name the belief, but you claimed you were done earlier and continue to drag this out, so I’m guessing you’re still not.
Smart-assedness is not a substitute for proof. You’re the one claiming that YHWH exists; all we are asking for you to do is to show proof of that existence. Should be an easy thing to do, what with you talking to him/her/it all the time, and all that.
As you say. As a doctor myself, I’m acquainted with any number of colleagues who hold odd beliefs or flat-out delusions.
Now that you’re back, Jesse, I’d really be interested in your responses to my and Diogenes’s questions from the earlier thread (here’s a jumping-off point).
