Another refugee from the AOL Dope boards and chatroom. I had a different name on AOL, though. It’s still my AIM name, if anybody cares to remember it.

As a 2002er (almost 2003er, at that), I’m obviously not one of the SDMB Illuminati but I have to point out that the last millinnium ended in December of 2000, not 1999.

That’s exactly what I was going to ask!
I’ve been on a :::gasp::: 5 year sabbatical from the boards and boy, has the neighborhood changed. I was wondering how many people from the old AOL boards would still be posting. It’s nice to see some familiar, and at times, vaguely familiar, screen names.
And just because I think it’s neat: I’m user number 119.

You know, after a while it just isn’t all that important to be an old geezer. You just get tired of seeing the same old arguments between the same old people, the same old rants shoved out on stage by some young whipper-snapper who think he just thought of a new, original and creative thing, the same old political slanders and spin jobs dressed up in a new selection of Goodwill Industry clothing, and the constantly replenishing waves of ignorance eroding my little island of rational pragmatism. But, thanks any way. :rolleyes:

Actually, **meek** , you newbie, you don’t get to call yourself a veteran unless you were actually here for the AOL/SDMB–which you missed by seven months.
(And someone will probably be along shortly to point out that I only joined after the “push-pin” background was installed on the AOL board, so I don’t count as a veteran, either.)

I joined the first day this board opened. In fact, I’m so old I remember the AOL board – although, like **Tomndeb** , I joined _after_ the push pin background was installed. Immediately after, though. People were still bitching about the new background when I got there.
