I’m a computer programmer. No typeing class taken. So - it’s all touch. And a lot of use of the backspace key. Wpw. (That wow was done with eyes open. The previous sentence was all eyes closed. I screw up more when I have my eyes open. Weird.) Susan ---

I never took an y kinf ofg typing in school which I sort of regret mpw O’m, l;,pst tjoguh hrad school and still can’t touch tupe to save mu life-- thank fosd I t;s almost over. I can;t imahine whay life would ne like in the says wjen one would jabe jad to hire a real tupoist and do the dissertation manuscript bny hamd; _Woof. I meant to say I’m almost through grad school and such and thanking God it’s over. Also “I can’t imagine what life would be like in the days when one would have had to hire a real typist” etc. Odd that I do better on the longer words that I have to think about spelling as I do it._ ---

I just typed up a long reply, then tried to use tab and enter to submit it automatically without looking, and it somehow vanished into the aether. And yes, I have my eyes closed right now. Let’s see if I can be super saucy… this should be \*\*bold[\b]. Did that work? (I was cheating a bit, in that I studied the keyboard layout carefully before closing my eyes… the \ key is extra wide, so I did a bit of extra feeling around… Now, to see if all that cheating was worth it… _Darn it… I forgot that I had done an open parentheses before that paragraph about the cheating… still pretty good_ pi is 3.1415926 _ahh, numbers_ let’s see if I can do some punctionation: period . comma , exclamation point ! question mark? forward slash/ backslack asterisk # open parens ( close parens ) colon: semicolon ; apostrophe a[ _not awful, aside from the apostrophe…_ And now I’ve previewed, and of course I got the slash in the wrong direction when I was trying to bold. Then I went in and tried it again, but of course since I screwd it up the first time, doing it again caused the entire email to go bold. Grumph. Now I feel all floopy. People in my office constantly comment on the fact that I can continue typing while looking at them and having a conversation. They seem to think it’s the most amazing thing in the world, whereas it’s just second nature to me. These are the same peoploe who say things like “You’re always _reading_!” when they see me iwth a book at lunch. 'Cause, you know, heavenforbit Ido something that stimulates the mind. _After preview and with eyes open–I rock. I can code with my eyes closed. 🙂_ ---

I never took any tyoint classes, so we’ll just have to see how this turns out. I am already worried that I woult be lifible. I am supposed to be hard at work on a website, but it kisy ggets more bor8ing bty tge dat, so this is more interesting. I wonder if I am better at typing words blind if I have tuped tem lots before. Otherwise, there’s no explanantion for hjow I have totally bidded cwertain words but done so well aty other, more coplicated ones. Everyone at work is always amaze at how fast I can type. TGhey also think it’s freaky when I type wihile tlooking at them or something else. Then again, I work with idiots!@ Thank God my last day is Nexxt Friday, Juky fifteenth. NO, not gonna try a number. Well, I can wiggle over toe the keypad. July15, 2005 will be my last day t my current job. I will start my ew job on July 18, 2005. I thought I might get some time off between jobs, by my new boss wants me to start right away. Apparently, the person I"m replacing was a rather crapp bookkeeper, and he needs his accounting up to day! I can understsand that. _OK - not bad. Not fabulous, but that’s why we can edit!_ ---

Glad this has turned out to provide as much fun as the first one. Tomorrow I am going to watch war of the fowrlds. I got the tickets today. While I was downs (the cinema is on the promenade and I live more inland, where there is quite a steep climb to get home… Yje thiong about posting drunk with you r eyes closed is that youg foreget what you typed previously. Whifch is what has happened to me. U eny on my bik but my ass stil hurts because the seat is too hard. I had roommates who thought it was kind of disconcerting how I would look at them and answer their questions while continuing to type at a pretty good clip. For instance, I really did do that las sentence blind, although I did have to stop a copule times and think about where I was in a word. ---

I don’t do the touch typing tthing the “proper” way. Instead, I prefer to put my fingers in my own placement on the board, not on the standard ones. Hey, if it works for me, where’s the problem? I got rather ticked off once when someone tried to “correct” my version of touch-typing. I’ve also refused to ever take any sort of keyboarding class. I figure all thethey’ll do is mess me up. ---

I am not expecting this to turn out too badly, even whth two gins in me right now.
