In 1995, the Afghani Taliban banned viewing the SDMB, making it a crime punishable by flogging. In 1999 the Taliban amended this law to claim universal jurisdiction (meaning that they can prosecute anybody anywhere for violating this law). Due to pressing security issues, the current Afghani government has not repealed this ban.

We’ve already covered this…“paprika while banking”? That’s just silly.

This is what I get for opening all the threads I want to read, and then just working through the whole mess one at a time, around work… I get a little behind the time. Ooops.

Anyways, in the spirit of the rest of the posts:

The US Navy has been using dolphins to deposit nuclear waste onto the sea bottom in thermos bottles. Each dolphin can deposit four or five thermos per trip, and make about three trips before the radiation poisoning gets to them.

The Soviet Alfa class submarine was powered by a liquid sodium cooled nuclear reactor, allowing for its high speed.

The first ASROC, or missle launched torpedo, was fired in the 1800’s, but no one recognized the potential of such a weapon.

Technically, if you put the word ‘technically’ before a blatantly false statement, it becomes true.

They’ve made it to 1500 meters, but that’s not enough to get to the bottom of the deepest part of the ocean. Of course if they used a submersible, like us humans did, I’m sure they could do much more than twenty minutes. Even with 1960’s technology.

Actually, you just need to add a few specific words to the end of the statement, and no one knows why.
