This is stupid, although predictable from you.

Hamas runs Gaza.
Booth pleads the case for the Palestinians of Gaza.
Hamas gives this independent reporter leave to travel Gaza to inquire what is going on.
Hater decides that Booth is a “propagandist” for pointing out the problems faced by the people in Gaza.

Do you have any record of her actually promoting Hamas?

What percentage of Gaza human rights activists do you imagine get VIP passports presented to them by the leader of Hamas?

Booth also has the unfortunate problem of ranting about how British Jews run the world and forgetting to mention anything about Palestine in her speeches. I guess this is part of the “we too oppose the extremists, but refuse to identify anyone as an extremist” game.

> There is no such thing in American law to begin with, which is the point.
>
> There is no question that both apply, by virtue of the fact that this is a nationwide news story.
>
> There are expansive additional protections granted to religious opinions by the First Amendment. “The Islamic Community Center of Phoenix has ties to Hamas” is, as a matter of law, a different sort of statement than “Monsanto has ties to Hamas,” and in the U.S. it’s different because the first one can almost never be libel (even if it wasn’t true, which it is). I know that you wish we were living in U.N. world where even saying “I don’t believe Islam is correct” is a crime, but thankfully, we are not.

This was good for a laugh. Almost none of this is correct, and the correct parts are irrelevant to my claim and misapplied by you. And the best part is that you declare it all with such certainly and arrogance while being absolutely wrong. There’s a news story about them, so they are unquestionably a public figure. :smack:

There is a nice parallel between you being an obvious non-lawyer who has a loose grasp of defamation law and lecturing on it like you know something, and you talking about Islam and Muslims like you know something more than what Ann Coulter and Pamela Gellar have spoonfed you.

Can you provide a single example of a religious institution in the United States successfully winning a libel claim based on assertions about what their leaders are “tied to” or believe?

Can you provide a single example of any religious institution besides Scientology even filing a libel claim at all?

You are so far over your head that you don’t even know smart questions to ask as a way of distracting from how wrong you were about the prior post.

As much fun as this is, I’m starting to pity you a little bit, and that’s usually where I bow out.

> Well, it would seem there are indeed some [“ties”](http://www.discoverthenetworks.org/printgroupProfile.asp?grpid=7423) between the NAIT (which seems to own something along the lines of 27%, if not more, of all mosques in the US) and the Muslim Brotherhood.

That whole link is a load of cherrypicked nonsense.

> [@Stringbean](#):
>
> _A third FBI memo, dated 1988, identified NAIT as one of many “Ikhwan organizations”—i.e., Muslim Brotherhood fronts—that “are involved in organizing political support” for a long-term plan seeking “to institute the Islamic Revolution in the United States” and “establish political control of all non-Islamic governments in the world.”_

Funny how you don’t cut and paste the part about the “second memo” mentioned at your link, where the FBI also thought that NAIT supported Khomeini and his Shia government, “as well as other fanatical Islamic Shiite fundamentalist leaders in the Middle East”. And this right after the link accused NAIT of wanting to spread Wahhabism (ie, Saudi Arabian brand fundamentalist Islam).

The problem is that NAIT can’t be all those things at once. The [Brotherhood and the Saudis hate each other,](http://www.newrepublic.com/article/114468/why-saudi-arabia-helping-crush-muslim-brotherhood) and [each of them](http://articles.latimes.com/2013/aug/10/world/la-fg-egypt-sectarianism-20130810) [also hate](http://jcpa.org/article/sunni-vs-shiite-in-saudi-arabia/) the Shia. Only in the mind of bigoted boneheads who think one radical Muslim is just like another and that therefore anyone who’s a “radical Muslim” is in ideological communion with all the other “radical Muslims” and so are all engaged in one giant unified Evil Muslim Conspiracy is there such a thing as a Muslim Brotherhood-linked, Iranian Shiite fundamentalist-supporting, Wahhabist-promoting organization.

It’s just as facepalmingly stupid as the theory among certain lunatics on the right that Obama is a [gay atheist Muslim](https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=gay+atheist+muslim+obama). He can’t be all those things at the same time, and neither can NAIT be all the things that link accuses them of being at the same time.

> [@Stringbean](#):
>
> NAIT was also named in a May 1991 Muslim Brotherhood document—titled “An Explanatory Memorandum on the General Strategic Goal for the Group in North America”—as one of the Brotherhood’s 29 likeminded allies dedicated to waging a “grand Jihad” aimed at “eliminating and destroying the Western civilization from within.”

Which was not a “these people are part of our Sekrit Muslim Conspiracy” list, but “we think these people might be on our side” list put together by one guy in Europe. Needless to say, not only was that twenty years ago, but the adeptness of the fucking morons in the Brotherhood at carrying out secret world-dominating conspiratorial plans is best highlighted by the fact that they [couldn’t even manage to dominate the Muslim-majority country they were founded in](http://www.aljazeera.com/news/middleeast/2013/12/egypt-crackdown-muslim-brotherhood-2013122615744500196.html)!

And that link gleefully mentions the 2009 district court decision in which “[t]he designation of NAIT as an ‘unindicted co-conspirator’ was upheld in 2009 by a federal judge, though that judge ruled against the previous public disclosure of the designation”, but doesn’t see fit to talk about [the subsequent 2010 Circuit Court of Appeals decision](http://caselaw.findlaw.com/us-5th-circuit/1541982.html) which stated,

> [@](#):
>
> We note, as well, that the district court’s findings do not amount to a ruling that NAIT took part in a criminal conspiracy to support Hamas.   In fact, the Government has gone so far as to argue that it never, in the course of this litigation, labeled NAIT a criminal coconspirator.5  The Government argues that it only asserted that NAIT was at least a “joint venturer” with the defendants.   See United States v. Layton, 855 F.2d 1388, 1399 (9th Cir.1988);  United States v. Saimiento-Rozo, 676 F.2d 146, 149-50 (5th Cir.1982);  United States v. Regilio, 669 F.2d 1169, 1174 n.4 (7th Cir.1981).   One can qualify as a “joint venturer” for the purposes of Rule 801(d)(2)(E) merely by engaging in a joint plan-distinct from the criminal conspiracy charged-that was non-criminal in nature.  Saimiento-Rozo, 676 F.2d at 149-50.   Therefore, even if NAIT could have been accurately characterized as a joint venturer, that characterization does not carry an inherently criminal connotation.

> [@Stringbean](#):
>
> Now, perhaps the FBI was wrong in these assessments.

Pretty much, yeah.

> [@Stringbean](#):
>
> Perhaps the Phoenix Mosque is upstanding in its teachings and all these connections are just the unfortunate consequence of one funding network owning such a vast swath of American mosques. The Muslim Brotherhood has at least not seen it apt to disassociate itself.

The “Muslim Brotherhood” is currently a splintered, shattered shadow of its former self, which wasn’t even close to being unified to _begin_ with. Its only important in the minds of anti-Islam conspiracy theorists who apparently see members of the Brotherhood under their beds at night.

I never made a claim that Booth was a calm, rational person. You posted the lie that she was a propagandist for Hamas, (as a way to avoid addressing the rest of your errors in that earlier post) and I pointed out that your claim was false (as were all the other claims).

\*Israel ex-officer leads Ukraine protests: Reports
Sunday Feb 16, 2014
Ukrainian media have reported that a former Israeli army officer is playing a leading role in the anti-government protests in the former Soviet republic.

Four other Israelis, who had previously served in the army, were recently reported to have taken part in opposition rallies in Ukraine’s capital, Kiev.\*
