minor hijack–in PORTNOY’S COMPLAINT, the person lying on the floor masturbating under a glass coffee table where an elegant fashion model squats and defecates is not the protagonist (Portnoy), but the former aged boyfriend of The Monkey, Portnoy’s current fashion-model girlfriend, and is a negligably minor character, if indeed he can even be considered a character at all, since he’s merely described retrospectively by The Monkey. ---
