Well, for starters, I don’t say “that fucking fat nail”. Because its status as over/underweight is irrelevant to the fact that I just hit my thumb with the hammer. Just as I wouldn’t say “that fucking gray nail” or “that nail is sooooo gay” or anything pointless like that.

It is _irrelevant_ that she is overweight to any extent, and yet he feels the need to emphasize this fact not only in the thread title but the OP. If I were going to flame, for example, GWB, I wouldn’t chose among my gripes his lack of sense of style because that has fuck-all to do with his effectiveness as President, governor, etc. Or if I were going to flame the administration of my current college, would saying “your shoes are size 9 and you have a penis that is 5 inches when erect” have anything to do with that man’s ability to be an administrator?

No.

But somehow **Keith Berry** found it pertinent to his rant that the person who hit his car is overweight. He could just as easily have said “To the pig fucking asslicker who hit my car and drove away”. People are not known for fucking pigs, and “asslicker” is so generic of an insult that I don’t _think_ anyone is going to take personal offense.

The point at the end is that “you’re fat” isn’t something that should be used as an insult.

Maybe that’s what you think, but it certainly doesn’t apply to a lot of other people who prefer to vent their anger in their own way.

I still figure that anything the OP said was his way of dealing with the fact that he was pissed off about his car, it’s not a big deal, and in typical over-sensitive ‘I want to be pissed off and offended’ fashion, quite a few people on this board had to attack him instead.

I hope they enjoyed it, but it’s all pointless. Maybe you wouldn’t call the nail ‘fat’ or ‘gray’, but hey, if the nail bent and the hammer hit my hand you can bet your ass I’d be calling it a ‘cheap ass piece of shit’.

So what?

Why does it have to be a colossal big deal that he insulted the shit out of her? She hit his car, did hundreds of dollars worth of damage to it, and he feels better by slinging shit at her. Better than than him taking an actual swing, eh? If calling her a fat moronic bitch for a couple paragraphs on some messageboard helped him, then holy fucking shit, what a molehill to start making politically correct mountains out of.

What doesn’t apply to other people who prefer to vent in their own way?

And what part of this statement, just so I can get your opinion on it, is wrong/you have issue with?:

“If you want to rant free of criticism, get a journal.”

Sure, it was his way. And if his way had been saying “that fucking faggot who rammed into my car”, he would have been flamed as well. Why? Because it’s offensive to say that being gay is a bad thing, and it’s unnecessary and irrelevant to the point of his rant, which was that someone rammed his car. The weight of the person HAS NO BEARING. He might as well have included her shoe size and hair color; they have equal importance.

Would you insult its color or size or something else irrelevant like that? Would you add utterly irrelevant and offensive statements like “that fat fucking faggot nail”? That’s what I find offensive. There is NO NEED to add irrelevant shit like the woman’s weight to an otherwise lovely rant. No need.

Why does he have to emphasize her weight? What possible fucking bearing does that have on the color of snow in Mongolia? If you’re looking to point the finger at the person who first made a big deal about the woman’s weight, point it at the OP, who was the one who highlighted it.

The medical community awaits your wisdom, oh WeirdOne.

I’m eight years in to a cancer that generally means you die of starvation because you have not enough digestive system left to assimilate calories. (Or you suffocate from the lack of oxygen if it goes to your lungs.)

I’ve had the half-a-stomach/half-a liver removal, can’t eat a normal meal once, much less twice a day to keep up my nutrition. And that was two years ago.

I work at a non-sedentary job 5.5 days a week. Did the pedometer thing…2.9 miles a day on my regular walking route, when I can do it. I’m anemic, have constant (caused by the cancer) diahhrea, and have not lost weight since the surgery.

Since you’ve said over and over that I can control it (must be true, I read it on the Internet, yanno…), please elucidate, so I can let my doctors know.

We’d be ever so grateful.

There are probably more fat, lazy people that won`t bother to roll their head to check the blind spot than not. So, the fact that she was fat may have more to do with this situation than many are willing to believe.

How original…fatandlazy.

Then a raft of “not alls”.

Geez Louise, BUT “there are probably more”…

Make up whatever it is that you use as a mind, OK?

And RE: the OP

The person who hit the car was irresponsible. That she was fat IS irrelevant, but a target for anger nonetheless.

The passengers neither hit the car nor made the decision to drive without a plate on the car. They were NOT valid targets.

By the way, the MOST irresponsible people I know aren’t the fat ones. They’re the “smoke dope, drink beer and get loaded” ones.

And the automotive industry considers the current Mustangs a disposable car. Generally not designed to outlast a 5 year payment schedule. Sorry.

Boy, you`re on a roll here **ThatDPerson**.

You don`t like my relationship between fat and lazy? A sedentary lifestyle will more often than not lead to being overweight. Don`t you agree? A lazy, I don`t give a shit lifestyle, is more common in overweight people, No? This is just from personal observance, of course.

By the way, in your case, what is your daily caloric intake?
You`re obvioisly a unique case, with your health the way it is.

Why the fuck do people get all bent out of shape over this issue? If I ate the way I wanted to eat I would be fifty or more pounds overweight. I gain 15 and lose 15 in one month sometimes.
If the freak driving the car that hit the OP had been called anything but fat, there would not be four pages of people trying to defend her obvious lifestyle choices that lead to her current obesity. I chose to call her lazy, and careless. Traits that may have lead to her obesity. I can do that because we have some examples of her behavior by which to judge her. I would not make that claim just by looking at any other obese person walking down the street.
PS - If this woman was too obese to comfortably check her blind spot, then she should not be driving. I would say the same thing about someone who is too sick or too old to be driving too. Or too anything for that matter.

I haven’t read this thread all the way through, because it’s way too long and I’ve seen so many like it before, and usually deeply involving the same people. But here’s my say anyways…

Why is it that we can refer to a woman as a ‘bitch’, even though that’s just a personal opinion and intended solely as an insult, but we cannot refer to this same woman as being ‘fat’, even though this is factual and an accurate descriptive term?

Surely the circumstantial opinion and insult should be what we rail against from someone, not the factual descriptive term.

What if she had not been overweight, but in fact had been thin, and was referred to as ‘skinny’ or ‘anorexic’? These are terms I see written extremely often, spoken intended as insults, usually by those who are not thin themselves, and seemingly the only reason to insult them at all is in fact because they are thin. But rarely do I ever see anybody complaining about the use of these terms in such a way.

What if the OP had referred to her as an ‘obese bitch’ ? Is this more acceptable somehow? What if he’d referred to her as an ‘average-sized bitch’ ? How is that any less or more insulting? To anyone?

**thatDDperson** - the issue for me is that people like you effectively genuinely have a medical condition or disability, which they have no control over. Like people on steroid medication, or born with Prader Willy syndrome, etc.

I don’t think it helps the case of a truly tragic minority of obese people to have the majority overeating, underexercising fat crowd continually jumping on the protected minority bandwagon. There is a major difference between your case, and someone who is addicted to bad, fatty/sugar food, and never exercises.

Ever have a smelly dirty bum get in your face and beg for change? Ill bet you judged him on his appearence in some subtle way. Ever seen someone dress “inappropriatly” for an occasion? Bet you judge them on thier appearences as well. Judging people by appearence is one of the most fundemantal inate human reactions there is so get of your high horse Mockingbird.

Actually no, not even close. I will give you the benefit of the doubt and assume you are not intentionally mis-stating my posts.

What I actually said was:

> [@](#):
>
> Excuse me?
>
> Are you in any way equating the horrors experienced by the victims of racism, religous bigotry and gay bashing to those who have been critized or discriminated against because they were obese? I would like some clarification please.

To which you replied (in part):

> [@](#):
>
> Yes. I am equating the two. While getting picked on at recess certainly can’t be considered comparable to the horror of the holocost, WHY you’re getting picked on probably doesn’t matter a huge deal to hurt feelings.

Seeing we were far apart- I was talking about decades of murder, rape and systematic oppression of basic rights and you were talking about getting “picked on” I took one more shot at showing how absurd and offensive the comparison was:

> [@](#):
>
> Except for the most part we are not talking about mere “getting picked on” for the victims of racism, bigotry and gay bashing. We are talking about things a thousand times worse, if those victims are lucky.
>
> To equate the two in any way is absurd, and insulting to the memories of those murdered, beaten or systematically oppressed. While the “fat crack” was not needed. I found your post infinitely more offensive then the OP’s. I suggest a healthy dose of the History Channel International and the Mathew Sheppard story if you still think these two things are remotely equal.
>
> Hurt feelings? I am sure the victims of racial, religous and sexual orientation discrimination and abuse wish that’s all they had to worry about.

So my point and Dave’s are quite different, although he too tried in vain to explain my posts to you. It is **not** that the same abuse, say an insult delivered verbally, about one’s gender, race, religion, or weight have different values of instinsic “wrongness” (although given the historic impact of racism, religous bigotry and horrors of gay bashing an argument certainly could be made- however it is clear from the quoted sections that was not what I said), it is simply that to compare the impact of the systematic, organizied and entrenched discrimination faced by entire generations by racism, religious persecution and sexual orientation is a slap in the face to the victims of the innumerable murders, tortures, rapes, beating, and systematic disenfranchisement of even the most basic civil rights. Further, it removes any credibility for those making such an argument.

You have a reputable automotive industry Cite for that? Or did it come from someone with a “Calvin peeing on Ford symbol” sticker on their Chevy?

This is also silly. I got picked on at school because my parents were rich and most people at my school wernt. So if i had become horribly depressed and committed suicide then im suddenly a huge victim of rich parents? Should there have been school programs dedicated to sensativity to rich people? I would argue that most people would think my problem was small. Did it make the picking on me any less? No. Looking back do i think it is/was a huge problem? No. Was i still beaten up and ganged up on? Yes. Live with it, grow up and move on.

I have said at least a half a dozen times in this thread that my statements were “Baring a medical condition”. I am sorry about your cancer and I wish you the best, but pulling one of the few quotes where I didn’t add the obligitory disclaimer ( because I had said it enough already that I assumed it was understood by all by now ) out of the entire thread kinda makes you look like either an idiot or one determined to grind his own axe reguardless of the facts.

…to quote just a few. And you already saw **alice\_in\_wonderland** reiterating that she didn’t condone the woman’s behavior. What aren’t you getting?

My mother (who had the surgery) just saw some people over the weekend that she hadn’t seen since before the surgery. Their surprised reactions made her feel so good! She’s coming down to Albany this weekend so we can go shopping. She’s been wearing clothes that are too big for her or hand-me-downs that are starting to get too big.

I’d love to talk about your experience. Would you email me if you have time?
