The Feared Foot Fungus Fork (Or: Carnival cruise passenger caught on video scratching her foot with a fork)

You need something in which to vomit if you are stuck in bed. Sometimes I don’t have time to get to the toilet.

Ah. I once put 2 bags in my little trash can and set it by the bed.

My mother would leave a bucket by my bedside and clean it herself. I don’t think we fully appreciate what our parents did for us.

Yeah, in practice, i usually make it to the toilet. But it’s reassuring to know i have the puke bowl as backup. And i have used it.

Certainly you want to puke in the toilet but a couple of times I only got as far as the bathroom sink. That was messy.

And ain’t this a fun conversation?

And sometimes you’re already using the toilet…

After seeing them used in a hospital, I switched to using disposable emesis bags. They’re much more convenient than kneeling in front of the toilet, or even using a bowl or bucket in bed. And they can be easily taken on a trip, or used in a car.

Hospitals also have something called an emesis basin (also called a kidney basin) but I think they’re terrible for collecting vomit.

So do nurses. We avoid depending on them, preferring the disposable blue barf bags in the preceding post.

At home I just use a gallon size zip loc bag and seal it and pitch it after every use. Simpler than ordering a one use item from Amazon. Zip locs work for just-in-case in the car for motion sickness or migraine episodes too.

I like the blue barf bags..I keep them handy. A barf is gonna barf..I suggest you don’t try to suppress it or run or you’ll have it running down a wall.

Or as I had to clean up once, a large bathroom mirror.

Why? Just why? Never got a clear answer on that.

And @LSLGuy , I live but to serve my fellow Dopers. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

(Empty ice cream tubs make good barf receptacles and are tossable)

I hope they did a whole burial-at-sea for the fork.

“We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed. In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump, for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall all be changed. We therefore commit his body to the deep, to be turned into corruption, looking for the resurrection of the body, when the sea shall give up her dead. Present! Fire! Fire!” Fire!

Stainless steel bowls and pots are easy to clean and reusable.

This reminds me of a funny movie scene where the butler contaminates the food.

Why do they serve KFC in a bucket?

So you have something to throw up in afterwards.

(Hat tip: Neil Hamburger)

Wait, you can reuse stainless steel bowls and pots? I’ve been putting them in the recycling bin each week.

It’s good to be rich. But I expect you really mean the staff has been putting them in the recycling and you’re just being modest.

Such a gentleman.

Sorry no staff here. Repeatedly needing to replace the cookware might explain why I can’t manage to save for retirement.

Eh, minor costs like that shouldn’t impair your wealth.

Life hacks, brought to you by the 'Dope. (Seriously, Beck that’s a damn good suggestion.)

Had 4 kids with the stomach Flu once. Yeah, you live and learn.
