So I guess I’m the only one who’s familiar with the trope of a knight carrying a magical ointment (doubtless concocted in the Holy Land by a mystical order of virgins, or the like) that’s guaranteed to mend any wound? You don’t carry a lady’s favor in your pocket; you tie it to the end of your lance. It looks like I might also fly solo with the nuclear football, but answers on that one are scattered enough that it shouldn’t hurt _too_ much. ---

I actually thought of a french curve for an architect. But I thought T-Square was a better answer. And I thought someone would match my WD-40 answer for a knight in shining armor. Hello, doesn’t anyone remember the rusty Tinman from _ **The Wizard of Oz** _. ---

Yeah, I know what a French curve is, but a spline is better. And when does an architect ever need to draw an irregular curve, anyway? ---

Actually, now that I look more closely at the other answers for the President’s desk, I see that three folks have “The button”, and one has “panic button”, which probably do refer to the same thing as the nuclear football (though it worries me to hear it called a panic button). ---

I thought that was implied by “His lady’s favor.” Or does “His lady’s favor” really refer to one of those noisemakers that you blow through to straighten out, and then it curls back up? Like “his lady’s Party Favor”? Weird. ---

“his lady’s favor”, at least AFAIK, refers to a piece of his love’s clothing - usually a scarf or handkerchief ---
