The Feud: High School Memories by Ellen Cherry [Game Over]

Okay, complainers. Here’s what you do:

  1. Make up your own idea for a Feud.
  2. Ask **Dolores **nicely if she’ll let you use the spreadsheet she uses to make the scoring much, much easier (yes, I’ve used it. It’s a huge help.)
  3. Don’t specify any formatting rules. Just let people reply willy-nilly, however they feel like it.
  4. Attempt to score the answers in anything approaching a timely manner. Bonus points for not cussing anybody out for “creative” formatting, or pulling your hair out trying to sort out ten different permutations of the same answer.

After you’ve done that, come back and tell **Dolores **how to run her Feuds. She probably still won’t listen (since the way she’s doing it is working fine and most folks don’t seem to have a problem with following the very simple formatting rules), but it’s that “walk a mile in her shoes” thing.

If the questions and the comments are before and after the list leaving a space in between, I can cut and paste the entire list of answers into my scoring spreadsheet.

I got a little pissy with Never Say Dice because he got pissy with me. (Pulling rank?)

Those who have played the Feud (or scored one!) for over a year now understand why the rules exist. I said please and thank you in my PM to him:

I said “I know you don’t like the rules” based on the other “Feudish” threads he’s started.

Some people find you arch. Saying that answer was “shitty” reflects more on you than Dice. He was expressing indifference, and you … If you don’t want people to be offended by your rules you might use a little more grace than messaging them then posting that you’ve messaged them and then cross-posting the entire conversation. And now you’re dragging me in, wanting me to see your pain. Sorry Toots. I’m unswayed by your arguments. His position “Don’t count my votes then” seems the simplest answer here. If you don’t put it in the spreadsheet, there’s nothing to erase.

But then people will say, “Where is my name in the standings sheet?” Don’t you think they should be told that they are disqualified? Plus, I didn’t even disqualify him! I was giving him a chance to play.

He did say, “Don’t count my votes, and I won’t count yours in my feuds.”

What the hell is “arch?”

He was definitely a bit snarky about it. Either way, I don’t see the big deal. The rules are pretty clear as day in the OP. And most of the people who play these did agree a while back to use them.

  11. Really. It’s a small town and back then that or the Burger Chef were the hangout places.

As someone that has scored several feuds, I can appreciate everything that Rebo does. I find them fun and the rules or not that complicated. Thanks Rebo.

Speaking as a moderator: Everyone chill out.

Dolores Reborn is kind enough to run these games for all of us and to do the scoring, which is an enormous PITA. (I’ve tried it, both with and without the spreadsheet, and I speak from experience.)

Because she’s doing all this work, she is allowed to set up the rules that make it easier for her to do all this work. You are allowed to not follow those rules, in which case your answer won’t be counted. She is not obligated to give you the chance to do-over an answer that clearly is in a format other than the one explained in the rules.

If you don’t like the way she runs these games, you are welcome to set up your own feuds, as some have done. Other people are free to participate in these or not as they see fit.

If you wish to comment on how things are done in the feuds that Dolores Reborn runs, keep any comments civil – insults are not allowed in this forum, by people criticizing Dolores Reborn or by her in response to those insults.

If you want to be rude, snarky, or insulting, take it to the Pit.

    Notes:
4: Tied with Latin, actually, but I don’t expect many points there.
7: And Magic: the Gathering club. Yes, my high school had one of those.
10: Probably more than that, actually, but I don’t have it here to count.

I hope I’m in time… I somehow didn’t see this all day.
