It’s been suggested that I actually figure out scores for this game. Okay.

I was going to just give everyone who guessed a category right a point. But that didn’t seem to give proper credit for those who figured out the more difficult ones. So I went through all the categories and ranked them by difficulty based on how few people guessed them correctly. Then I scored them from 1-10 points.

  1. Name an unusually large muppet. 10 points
  2. Name a catchphrase from a war movie. 9 points
  3. Name a non-Abrahamic religion i.e. not Christian, Muslim, Jewish 8 points
  4. Name one of the Pointer sisters. 7 points
  5. Give a girl’s name that is also a gemstone. 6 points
  6. Name a European capital. 5 points
  7. Name a musical. 4 points
  8. Name a type of “exotic” pet. 3 points
  9. Name a brand of Hot Dog. 2 points
  10. Name a female singer 1 point

And the scores are:

  1. Sternvogel = 42
  2. twickster = 36
  3. cmkeller = 34
  4. BigT = 30
  5. (tie) Roland Orzabal = 29
  6. (tie) ShibbOleth = 29
  7. (tie) Sparky812 = 29
  8. (tie) labtrash = 28
  9. (tie) Monstera deliciosa = 28
  10. El_Kabong = 25
  11. Really Not all That Bright = 23
  12. Sigmagirl = 22
  13. WormTheRed = 21
  14. Biffy the Elephant Shrew = 19
  15. astorian = 18
  16. ChockFullOfHeadyGoodness = 15
  17. Tengu = 11
  18. (tie) Chronos = 10
  19. (tie) dwc1970 =10
  20. (tie) Fretful Porpentine = 10
  21. (tie) Freudian Slit = 10
  22. (tie) wheresgeorge04 = 10
  23. Kobal2 = 8
  24. jasonh300 = 6
  25. Avarie537 = 2

Then I did it again because the board had logged me out.

Then I did it a third time because the keyboard I’m using isn’t working right.

Sorry scoring was such a PITA – this was fun! Thanks for putting it together!

I credited you with:

  1. Exotic pets (3 points)
  2. Gemstones used as names (6 points)
  3. Pop divas (1 point)
  4. Brands of hot dogs (2 points)
  5. Pointer Sisters (7 points)

I can just barely see not accepting “Eastern religions,” but why not “Broadway musicals”?

Was The Sound of Music done as a stage musical?

Yep. (Major childhood memory: my parents’ This Is Broadway’s Best double LP with “The Lonely Goatherd” on it.)

Like in the Feud threads, it’s possible to get a right answer that’s not the right answer. I took these categories from other feuds and had to decide if the guesses were close enough to count as a match. Question #2 was from a feud about movie genres - so my interpretation was that the answer had to be movies not stage productions. This gave an advantage to the people who just guessed “musicals” without specifying the format but that’s where I drew the line.

This was pretty interesting. I personally liked my answer for #10 even though no one else came up with that (and it wasn’t correct).

I think it would be more challenging if you put some of the “wrong” feud answers into the mix. For example, if the Feud was “Name a US Capitol east of the Mississippi” and someone answered Austin, Texas, then list

Austin, Atlanta, Albany, Annapolis, Harrisburg

We’d have to decide whether it was state capitols that start with A or state capitols east of the Mississippi or some other category. (To my recollection that’s never been a Feud question). There are usually at least one or two answers that are out there enough to really throw a monkey wrench into it.

Anyway, that’s what I was thinking with my answer to the tenth question. Both Anita and Bonnie were real hurricanes. I wasn’t sure about June and Ruth is, I think, on the list in some years, but has never been a named storm.

Wohooo! I’m solid in the middle of the pack!

These weird Feuds seem to be my thing

Exactly why is Cookie Monster “big”? Because that was going to be my guess until I saw him. Other than that, it looks about right.
