I disagree with **Tom Scud** - boating and sailing aren’t exactly the same thing, but they both involve steering a boat in the water. I will group them together.

EGAD NO!  
Sailing involves rope skills and knowing what to do in each kind of wind  
Boating - you start a motor and go wherever you want regardless of wind conditions  
VERY DIFFERENT

As a person who goes sailing a lot I agree that they are different skills. But from fued standpoint I am not sure that it matters. But I do have a pitch fork in the garden shed.
