The first presidential debate: 10/3/2012

Good shot by Obama on Romney’s claim of bipartisanship if elected. If only he’d done a bit more of that.

Well, Governor Romney says he’s not going to change entitlements, so he ought to be okay.

Obama still had over 4 minutes more total speaking time than Romney, according to CNN’s “Speaking Time” meter. So, seems fair to me.

OMFG. He even got the last word on the coin toss.

Christ, he gets the last word again.

Closing argument.

Conan O’Brian just tweeted that he just noticed that Jim Leher has no whites in his eyes…

I’m thinking he had to get that sound bite in because they probably have an ad campaign scheduled based on it. It will be interesting to see if the ad campaign comes from a “not coordinating” superPAC or from the Romney campaign.

Did I hear that right… “Mr. President, thank you for tuning in this evening”?

The reason Romney is continually bitchslapping Lehrer and making his own rules for the debate is because that’s what plays well to the FoxNewsWatching demographic. They like bullies-look at Hannity, Limbaugh, O’Reilly, etc.

Y’know, there’s zingers and there’s zingers. And some of the best zingers make no difference (“You’re no Jack Kennedy”). The one with “your own facts” is extra klunky because it’s entirely unoriginal. At least the “you pick losers” one flowed well from the speech. Obama’s last one was good but nothing special either.

Mitt gets the last word.

:stuck_out_tongue:

Romney’s makeup is terrible, he should have stuck to the tan because he looks like a cheap embalmer did it for the debate. Then when he was mugging and grimacing, he struck me as what old people do when they have trouble with their dentures.

So, Romney brought up the ~90 billion dollars put into green technologies which comes to, what, half a year of the cost of planting the military in Iraq and Afghanistan?

Intrade just dropped Obama below 70%.

So, I can’t shoot him?

But also 100 years worth of oil subsidies. Is that wise when deficits are so large?

That debate was terrible, and I want my money back. The PBS commentators are puzzled by why Obama didn’t bring up the 47% remark, but I dunno. I agree that Obama missed a lot of opportunities, but I think he was better off without that. Anyway, sucky debate. C-

But that was the best looking presidential debate I’ve ever seen. What? :o

Yes. What’s NOT wise is to increase deficits during times of plenty, like our last Republican president did. See also Joseph and his amazing technicolor dreamcoat.

Romney is etchascetching tonight. Pretty centrist compared to the guy I saw during the primaries.
