Sounds like he was drunk to me. But they need to just come out and say it, if that’s what was going on. They aren’t a hospital, and he has no privacy expectation from an airline.
It sounds like they’re trying to imply that it was something like that (whether it’s true or not) without actually saying so. That way they can claim the benefit of the doubt while avoiding a lawsuit for liable, and they can do so while playing the good guys who are just “protecting passenger privacy”.
