**swampy** , glad you had a fun weekend. I’m assuming you were at the outlet mall. I’ve spent many an hour and many a dollar there. It’s a good workout, too, since the trolley tends to be not working more than it’s working and there’s lots of walking to be done.

It was a busy weekend here. I had my ceramics class on Saturday, then came home and emptied/replanted 5 concrete planters that I’d moved from the hill to the front porch. They’re now full of mums and pansies, and I’m hoping the manure will make them grow big and beeyooteeful. At least I hope they don’t die. I also did a little raking - I love our treed lot except about now.

Sunday, after the late breakfast, we went to the LaZBoy showroom and found the loveseat we want for the family room - it’s a recliner type (duh) and really comfy. Plus it’s short enough that we can put it where the sofa is, and have room for tables on either end. The only thing I don’t like about it is the fabric - beige velour-ish. No pattern to hide crud. On the other hand, it won’t limit the decor of the room - we can accent with just about anything. If only we had $1200 lying around.

Friday after work, we bought a 24" roto-tiller from a woman who was selling off all her crap and moving to Idaho. She said it worked fine except the spring was shot, so you had to manually rewind the pull cord. She only wanted $100, so we took it. **FCD** took the spring out and after LaZBoy we went to Home Depot and got a new spring and a new cord and spark plug. Put it all together. Tried to start it. No dice. Cussed for not asking her to start it before we took it. After some poking and tweaking, we got it going. I’m thinking it had been sitting for some time.

But it works well. I churned up the dirt where I’m trying to do a compost heap. I’m thinking I’ll rake some leaves over there and till it all together. So after taking it for a test till, we dragged it back up by the basement, cleared ancient grasses off the tines, hosed it down, and changed the oil. Then I dragged it up to the shed, not being in the mood to do any more with it.

I decided instead of planting my bulbs, I’d attack the leaves on the front lawn. I got out the brand-new, only used once blower. It wouldn’t start. **FCD** messed with it. It wouldn’t start. I looked in the owner’s manual - no help - it wouldn’t start. So I dug out the old Ryobi, which is an engine and drive shaft on to which you can hook other stuff. We bought it to be a weed whacker, but we also got the blower attachment. It had been sitting over a year, but I got it running after 3 or 4 tries. And I managed to get about half the front yard blown off on a single tank of gas. I just wish I’d worn earplugs.

When the Ryobi ran dry, I went back to the other blower - still couldn’t start the stoopit thing. So I put everything away. Then I went to the Homelite website and sent in a complaint about the stoopit thing. We’ll see what, if anything, we hear back.

I rotissed some chicken breasts for dinner last night - but I ran them just a little too long. Next time, I’ll opt for shorter time. They tasted good, but they were a little dry. I was gonna rotiss some salmon today, but I’ve opted to broil it instead. I’ve got a big pot o’chili sitting on the stove - my sweetie will have lunches for the rest of the week.

I want cookies. Wonder if I’m motivated enough to bake??

I was in Florida this weekend, too! I flew in to Fort Lauderdale, but actually stayed in South Beach. When we were at the beach, we were talking about sharks and stuff, and I don’t remember what exactly happened, but I said “The sea was angry that day, my friend!” So I am also a pop culture whore. Well, at least a Seinfeld Quote Whore. There’s a Seinfeld quotation for just about anything.

Oh, and my flights to and fro stopped in Etlanner, and I of course thought of the name of the city in Swampy’s version of it.

I’ve been having mood swings, but I can’t tell if they’re related to the shots or not. They don’t seem to happen before or after the shots, more just randomly sprinkeled here and there. I think I may just be crazy. 😛

But it’s made up for by not having to worry about these things when travelling. With a long distance relationship, it’s REALLY nice not to have to plan visits around monthly visits from “Aunt Flo.”

**scout** they may talk all high falutin’ and say At- **lan** -ta but it’s really pronounced **Et** - lan-ur. They ain’t foolin’ me.

I’m kinda proud that the MMP has been on the TMI side so far, but if it ain’t up to page two by in the mornin’ I’m gonna pout. Like this. ☹ Y’all don’t want that now do ya?

I have to go to a meeting but it’s ok cause we’re also gonna have steak! Grilled steak. And taters (but not our **Taters** ) and salad and biscuits! So, it’ll be good.

**FCM** of course I went to the outlet malls. That’s one of St. Augie’s main attractions after all. I netted shoes, pants, shirts and did some Christmas shoppin’ to boot. Ya shoulda seen the back end of ACBG’s Trailblazer comin’ back. He bought stuff too, but I bought a bunch more. When he saw the Van Heusen outlet store, he said, “Oh @$#\* we’ll be here forever now!” 😃 I do loves shoppin’ for shirts.

I never iron my cuffs. But metal conducts heat really well, and they’d get really hot.

I was going to go be all picture-whorey in the picture thread now that I got my digital camera back from The Clutches of My House, but my media reader doesn’t work (for some reason) , so I have no way of transferring them to my computer. So all of those naked pictures of me are useless. 😛 (poor **swampy** )

Well I’ll do my part and post again. That’s not the same thing as post padding, is it?

**fcm** , I made some chili this weekend myself. Seemed like a good way to usher in the “cooler” weather. However, I actually like chili, as does the rest of the household. The Princess[sup]TM[/sup] had it for breakfast on Sunday. 😃 There’s only a little bit left now.

But tonight is pokechop night. I am already hungry. Pokechops and smashed taters (not our **taters** ) sounds nummy to me.

I could get TMI about menses and lack thereof at my advanced age but I won’t cause I’m feelin Judgy Von Pruderson, so there. 😛 Ha, ha! Beat ya, **swampy** 😃

My sweetie likes the Haggar store there - he’s gotten many a pair of pants and shirts there. I like the kitchen junque stores - got me a bunch o’gadgets there over the years.

The so-called “outlet malls” around here are pretty pricey, besides being pretty far away from us. So that’s good, I think.

Just FYI - salmon cooked in eye-talian dressing isn’t all that good. I need to try something else next time. But I still want cookies.

Junque is decidedly classier than junk. Any yard sale can feature junk, but only special places offer junque.

> Just FYI - salmon cooked in eye-talian dressing isn’t all that good. I need to try something else next time. But I still want cookies.

lightingtool’s perfect salmon recipe:

Buy some salmon fillets (not steaks) with the skin still on one side.

Get your grill really hot.

Marinade the fish in some soy sauce and lemon juice (or whatever you want) for about 5, maybe 10 minutes. Any longer and the acidic stuff will start to do bad things to the fish.

Slap on grill, skin side down.

This next part’s optional (hell, most of the recipe’s optional, except for the fish and the grill): Thin some of your favorite honey-BBQ sauce down with some of your favorite beer (or wine, or don’t thin it at all if you don’t want to) until it reaches a paint-like consistency, then spread on fish when about halfway done.

Warning: Do not keep lifting the lid off the grill - you need to keep that hot air in there to cook the top half of the fish.

Remove from grill. Eat by peeling chunks of fish off the skin. It’s really good.

Don’t know much about cookies, though.

We bought 16 80lb bags of concrete and put it into bags. Then we put the bags against the sides of the slab of concrete that is the boat ramp. The idea is that the bags will prevent the dirt from washing out from under the ramp. We hope.

I cut my finger yesterday while planting bulbs, and today I got concrete in it. The bandaid came off and I didn’t notice. Wonder what that’s going to do.

While buying concrete I also bought 30 more tulip bulbs. I must be a glutton for punishment.

Yay! Welcome back, **Kallessa**! Sorry to hear you’re not well. ☹ Feel free to unload if you need to…

Let’s see…TMI…no, I gots nuttin’.

So, explain to me how Our Lady de la Leche makes sense, exactly? (And yes, I’m catlick born and raised…although I’m probably best described as agnostic catlick, if that makes any sense.) Sounds pretty dumb in either Spanish and English, to me, and only worse when you mix them together.

I think a glow-in-the dark Our Lady de la Leche statue would be cool, though. Or scary.

Had company all weekend, starting Friday. My brother ran in the marathon here yesterday (and did quite well - under 3 hours - go brother!). He had his kids this weekend, so I got to traipse all over downtown Columbus with them watching brother (and several thousand others) run. It’s great to get to wander around with one kid who needs to be 20 feet ahead of you (she’s independent at the ripe old age of not-quite-11, you know) and another who is very focused on everything we’re wandering past: stones, curbs, ledges, parking meters, all quite fascinating objects that naturally slow one down. Didn’t lose either kid, which was reassuring.

We also painted crafty things for Christmas and watched several movies. Pretty darn exciting. Amazingly, I still had enough energy to run a couple errands AND do some laundry after they left.

Another belated **YAY!** for **Rue** being employed. But hurry up and get unbusy enough to start at least a few MMPs…

I’m sure there’s more, but I’m supposed to be doing stuff. Like identifying junque in my basement…

I’m late. I hate that.

I don’t know if today was good, bad or in-between. My job was hanging in the balance, to be determined by the number of students who showed up for my class
this AM. It wasn’t pretty. I was several students short of making profit for the school (yeah, it’s private and in the business of the almighty dollar). The students I have are all excellent, and I hated to lose this class altogether. My boss is out of town, but he called and offered me a deal - take a pay cut (10%), keep the program going, the school will lose some money but, as he said, “we won’t lose you”. I said YES. I love this job. This means I’ll have to work more hours at Job #2 in home health, which is a lot more physical, but I’m just happy that he sees some potential in me and in continuing the program. So I think I just answered my own question. Today was good.

Yesterday, not so good. For the first time since the hip replacement, I lost my mind and sat down on the floor. Big mistake. Pain everywhere, but hip still intact so I slowly raised up, went to the freezer and got enough ice to turn me into a frozen mocha (did I mention I’m really tan now?) beck-a-cino. Things still sore today, even after I iced it off and on all day Sunday. I’ll get some X-rays tomorrow.

I’m thinking Palm Springs should build a “Fountain of Plaid”. Yeah, that would bring in the crowds. Add a statue commemorating the discovery of glittery clothing
and we’ve got it made. (not a snub at any group, but if you have seen the senior population here, you know what I’m talking about.)

Oooh! Oooh! I know, I know! It’s the Lady of La Leche 'cause there’s a statue of Mary with a baby Jesus latched to her booby, having some lunch. My years of Catholic school prove valuable once again.

Very good MMP **swampy** , you done us proud. Plus and; yay! **Kalley** ’s back!

There’s a ton of clothes in my closet and about 2/3s are rarely worn because ironing is proof og hates us and wants us to be sad. One of my friends has a maid who also babysits _and irons_. My envy level is up to my belly button 'cause of that.

> [@Ellen](#):
>
> and I can’t want for them to visit!

Ms. Freud, is that your slip showing? C’mon now, tell us the truth about your in-laws.

Okay, **Taters** mentioned swiss steak and it reminded me I don’t think I’ve ever had any. In fact, what is swiss steak? There isn’t any swiss people in it and probably no swiss cheese.

> [@misstee](#):
>
> Really, I don’t need them. I want new shoes.

T’_chuh_, need is as good as want, with shoes. All people always should get new shoes, as often as possible. I was right there with Imelda Marcos when it came to footwear.

Eeeek! The weather here has been, well not awful, it’s just that there _was_ some yesterday. Rained for like a half-hour _strait_, with lots of thunder and lightening. My thunder was loud enough to set off car alarms and make dogs howl for blocks. Then there was bunches of lightening which made one of my students’ mom have a wreck and another student had a tree in her back yard burn up. The biggest bad it did was out at the hay sheds, where four or five of those big blocks of hay bales caught on fire. That’s about 250,000 dollar’s worth; _each_! So that’s why this morning the weather channel said our condition was partially cloudy and smokey. Which is odd because I didn’t think smokey qualified as weather, unless it’s a giant volcano maybe. It’s still burning too.

Would a 16 year old \*\*tater \*\* be like a new potato? Fingerling taters can’t be more than ten years old I believe.
