Just about every major Chiristian denomination, at least in the U.S., has a Fund’ist wing, or at least a fringe. Even the Catholic Church has them, though they tend to be, well, Catholic. So, yeah, Dubya is a Methodist, but he’s still a Fund’ist.

In regards to the OP: I’ll put it to you this way- if the perspective of the Straight Dope accurately reflected mainstream American opinion, John Kerry would have won election in November with the largest margin since George Washington, and the Libertarians would have solidified their control of Congress.

Actually, the President is a United Methodist. He’s more politically conservative than most United Methodists, and maybe more religiously conservative, but the church he’s affilitated with isn’t a “fundamentalist church”.
